I had to look because I remember it being something ridiculous... The headline was, "CSU turned the other cheek while Buffs gave beating". Here's a nice little excerpt so nobody has to click on the article...Wasn't Matt Stephens the one who had the head line after the Rocky Mountain Showdown that had something to do with "Well, at least CSU didn't give up in the game"?
It was second down and 8 from the University of Colorado 37-yard line, and Nick Stevens’ pass was just out of reach. He stretched his left hand, but he couldn’t cup the ball. Had his arms been a little longer, it wouldn’t have mattered. The blindside hit he received from the Buffs’ defensive back knocked him off his feet.
It should have been called targeting. It was a dangerous hit. But Fackrell, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound transfer from Snow College, stood back up and walked the other way.
Two plays later, center Jake Bennett found himself on his back along the CU sideline, being trampled by the punt return team as it made its way onto the field.
He didn’t push back....................
If you’re a CSU fan, walk away from Denver knowing that it could have been worse. An embarrassment of football could have eroded into a disgrace of character. Thankfully, Bobo has this team in line.

Need to both be undefeated and ranked, but the odds say that is likely to happen.
Maybe. But a lot of teams are gonna lose in those 3 weeks. Moving from 27 to 25 isn't a significant jump other than it getting you listed.I would have to imagine that we would need to look pretty damn impressive against that powderpuff 3 game schedule.
Good news for CU is that there aren't very many great games in week 4. Rematch of Pac-12 Champs and a likely top 25 matchup could get us there.I would have to imagine that we would need to look pretty damn impressive against that powderpuff 3 game schedule.
The only thing is that I think that CU and Utah should be flipped in the polls. We were better than them last year and lost less talent than they did.As much as it pains me not to have my Buffs in the Top 25 after last year, the way they finished the season wasn't great and they have to prove themselves on defense this year. #27 just outside the Top 25 is a really good spot - shows a little respect and adds a chip on their shoulder. I love it. And for some reason I feel like when the Buffs start out ranked well they just **** themselves.
I would say maybe in Total numbers they lost more. Just from looking at from the perspective of a voter, what I would see is that what kept CU in the close games last year was the defense and they lost 8 starters and their all-world D-Coordinator. For people who know the program, they probably say that not much has been lost (I'll admit I am concerned about the DC aspect more than the players). But again, I would rather an underrated/under appreciated Buffs team to start out and sneak up of people rather than start out with a target on our backs...and least for this, and maybe next, year. Then I want to be the biggest badest asses on the field. The only thing is that I think that CU and Utah should be flipped in the polls. Utah had 8 guys drafted by the NFL. And Utah wasn't a great team last year. Do people really think that program is so loaded it can reload from losses like that and be right where they were last year?I would say maybe in Total numbers they lost more. Could be, but as CUAviator said, I think it's the best of both worlds. Close enough to the 25 that going 3-0 will certainly put them in, if not top 20, but leaving them out gives them a slight chip on the shoulder to use for motivation. The only thing is that I think that CU and Utah should be flipped in the polls. Reputation goes a long way in preseason polls. See University of TexasUtah had 8 guys drafted by the NFL. And Utah wasn't a great team last year. Do people really think that program is so loaded it can reload from losses like that and be right where they were last year?
Final AP for 2016 season had CU at 17 and Utah at 23. We drop 10 spots and they drop 2. Seems off to me.
Probably worth mentioning that Utah avoids Cal & Oregon St from the North while we avoid Stanford & a surely better Oregon.Utah had 8 guys drafted by the NFL. And Utah wasn't a great team last year. They also have a tough non-conference game at BYU. Definitely a tougher schedule than we have.Probably worth mentioning that Utah avoids Cal & Oregon St from the North while we avoid Stanford & a surely better Oregon.
Even Utah's FCS game is a much tougher one than ours. UND isn't NDSU, but they are ranked #5 in FCS.They also have a tough non-conference game at BYU. Definitely a tougher schedule than we have.
According the FBS Schedules and the ESPN FPI rankings, Utah's SOS is #12, while CU's is #50.They also have a tough non-conference game at BYU. Definitely a tougher schedule than we have.
Texas will win 9-10.Reputation goes a long way in preseason polls. See University of Texas
You think any coach looked T returning starters, losses, staff changes, SOS, etc when they voted? Good grief, Clemson got 7 first place votes. Look at Phil, pick 6, FPI and other proven prognosticators listed in Stassens. There's a reason they dropped polls for CFP.According the FBS Schedules and the ESPN FPI rankings, Utah's SOS is #12, while CU's is #50.

That's about the score they've been winning most of their games by over the past 8 years.Texas will win 9-10.
Like Charlie said when he left.. this team will win 10 next year with or without me. I think 9.That's about the score they've been winning most of their games by over the past 8 years.
LSU OL is suspect. And thin.Agree on Michigan.
I think LSU could be very good by mid year. I like Aranda and Canada a lot. I was never a big Orgeron fan as a HC but having Aranda as DC is a huge help and Canada was a great hire. I just think they have so much talent that was so under-utilized by the last coach.
I saw a tweet earlier today that they just lost an OT, too.LSU OL is suspect. And thin.
I thought I heard that CU is ranked 75th in pre-season poles. I wanna say it was the PAC12 Media day?
