For us ignorant folk, will someone post a graphic of the various D line positions?
Would be nice if whoever provides it could use a square for the center position and circles for the other O-Line positions.
Thanks in advance

Last year's starting defense (pre-injury):
Nose = Tupou... job is to control the center and inside gaps, keeping the Mike clean
End (1-gap) = Carrell... job is to outside leverage OT to squeeze the gap to the inside & get up field or string outside if the play's not going inside
End (2-gap) = Kafovalu... job is to occupy OG to keep the Jack LB free to run and keep OT honest/not in wide split to give Will LB a short corner to blitz
Sam LB = McCartney... job is to keep runs inside and contain QB option while covering flat and/or curl (sometimes in man coverage on TE or RB)
Will LB = Gilbert... job is to bring pressure while stopping counter and other runs off tackle (also needs to be able to drop into coverage like Sam)
Jack LB = Olugbode... job is to run sideline to sideline in run defense and coverage making plays
Mike LB = Gamboa... job is to fill gaps in run support (especially inside) and provide pass coverage in seam/curl area.
Adjustment post-injury to McCartney was to introduce the Buff LB (hybrid S/LB) instead of having a Sam LB on the field. It seems like that's going to be the base defense going forward, with the true OLB being a pass rushing Will and the Buff being faster to the edge & better in coverage while giving up size to achieve that.
Biggest holes in this defense we saw last year is that teams found something that got exploited against Washington with running power into the strongside B gap. MacIntyre said they've found a fix for that. The other thing we all saw was with long developing pass plays that isolated a Jack or Mike on a TE drag or whatnot. Got to bring QB pressure more quickly to defend that effectively.
Edit: Specific to Tremblay, he could play either End spot on the DL but is pretty much the prototype for the 2-gap End.
Rep. With the Buff Backer being a staple of the D going forward, it definitely begins to resemble more of a 4-2-5, or a slight variation to the 3-3-5.![]()

Meh... didn't use a square for the center. Have to count off for that.high quality stuff from Nik.
Nice way to phone it in Nik![]()

Very nice. I will mention one more weakness It may be under your "whatnot" categoryy.
Keep F and TE in to block. Release R and run him right at Mike. Simple one cut (especially away from Jack) and he's wide open for catch and run. Gamboa can't defend it. To your solution, speed rush is key, but hard if you keep TE and F in to block.
The way I look at it, the only job of E, N and E is to create an instant pile right in the middle of the field that everybody else has to go around (no through). N and E are dudes expected to win double teams. A and strongside B gaps closed
In your example F and R have to take time to go around the pile. Your blocking TE is read by Gamboa and SAM handles F, leaving Olugbode in coverage against R. R against MIKE should be even match-up. With the Buffback, Olugbode rushes forward to take F and Moeller drops back to cover R. Then you have R against a safety-like dude.
