Game Week - TCU, Week 1 (0-0)

Listened to this long winding stupid podcastOk- so I couldn't let this go and actually looked into it. I used the official Utah depth chart released this week and DNVR's projected starters for CU, comparing height and weight. Takeaways:
Just looking at the starting OL/DL, TCU looks to be much bigger there than CU too.
- On the edges of the lines (Tackles and EDGE positions) CU compares favorably with Utah.
- On the interior positions of the lines CU gives up a significant size advantage to Utah in terms of weight
- Running back/LB/WR positions are a significant size advantage to Utah
- Defensive backfield is pretty much a wash (except for Cormani, who is 165 and much smaller than all the other corners
- Overall, CU is roughly as tall as Utah, but much lighter than Utah.
The comment about Small is lazy
The comment about Deion not doing well at all, and this not being the job he thought is so freaking stupid
He won at Jackson State, straight up, took them to the championship
He is the head of his own CFB Franchise, that he has 100% control of and has molded it in the same way as Jackson State with better players and good rescources.

He had them off in part of the WOM video that they just released. He also said he should be out of the boot and walking by the end of the week.
Given the number of plays we will have at altitude, being 6-7 lbs. lighter than everyone else is really valuable.

What I did find indicates maybe 6'-5", 280lb but nothing "conclusive"
I didn't go through the entire roster, just the starters, so my numbers are a bit different than yours for CU OL/DL

Average CU Starting OL: 6'5", 301
Average UU Starting OL: 6'4", 311
Average TCU Starting OL: 6'5", 330 (not a typo)
Average CU Starting DL: 6'3", 271
Average UU Starting DL: 6'4", 279
Average TCU Starting DL: 6'3", 296 (if you just include their 3 down linemen; they play a 3-3-5)
Average TCU Starting DL: 6'3" 278 (if you include their Rush LB)
To be clear, I agree with @Da Lama that this doesn't necessarily mean bad things for CU all season because of the way that the college game has evolved, but as @Buffnik points out, the defense and especially the interior DL/LBs seem built to play against the pass. CU could be in trouble if they run into a team that can play with a lead and wants to run it in between the tackles.

I'm finding that I'm trying to keep my emotions in check for this weekend and have come up with the following expectations:
TCU wins by > 10 over the line:

CU beats the line by 1-10 points and we're still in it in the 4th:

Yeah. Season openers are such a crap shoot. There are so many scenarios that could play out in this game that make it hard to predict.
I think this years version of TCU is nowhere near last years Cinderella story. Last time I saw their defense, Georgia put 65 on them and they lost talented starters from that squad.
The biggest drop off, in my opinion, something most folks do not talk about much - losing Garrett Riley. Riley was named the offensive coordinator at TCU in December 2021. TCU had the 9th highest scoring offense in the 2022 season with 38.8 pts/game. He was awarded the 2022 Broyles Award for the top Asst Coach in college football. Riley is now at Clemson, I expect the TCU offense to plummet without Riley.
TCU did okay in the portal and has some depth but does not have the front end talent last years team had and losing Riley will be huge.

My god people, we can drink a glass of kool-aid, but let's not guzzle the entire jug. TCU is a good team and at home. There's a good possibility of a loss here. That said, we have a puncher's chance and there's no way this game doesn't stay within 2 scores either way.

I stand behind TCU not being the same without Riley. He is special. Remember when CU hired a HC from Boise State when it was really the Coordinator mainly responsible for their success?

I'm about as bright as the typical CU grad: when you are at altitude, with less atmospheric pressure, don't you weigh a little less? Very little?
Weight has nothing to do with atmospheric pressure.

I listened to that podcast on my way home from NJ last night. I wish I didn't. They were childish.
They have a lot of jokes and they laugh a lot. If you don't listen to them all of the time, you probably don't understand a lot of what they are saying.
Even my 15 year old son said that this podcast doesn't resonate with him either. They spend about 15 minutes blaming the internet for issues related to what medium you can find them on this weekend. The female decides that cursing is a good idea about 40 minutes in to make her point. It was childish.
