Listened to this long winding stupid podcastOk- so I couldn't let this go and actually looked into it. I used the official Utah depth chart released this week and DNVR's projected starters for CU, comparing height and weight. Takeaways:
Just looking at the starting OL/DL, TCU looks to be much bigger there than CU too.
- On the edges of the lines (Tackles and EDGE positions) CU compares favorably with Utah.
- On the interior positions of the lines CU gives up a significant size advantage to Utah in terms of weight
- Running back/LB/WR positions are a significant size advantage to Utah
- Defensive backfield is pretty much a wash (except for Cormani, who is 165 and much smaller than all the other corners
- Overall, CU is roughly as tall as Utah, but much lighter than Utah.
FIFYLongest week of the many many many many years that we've been wandering through the darkness...
He has had a boot the entire time except for at the luncheon.Damn, CP with a boot on again.
He was in slippers for a team meeting last week.He has had a boot the entire time except for at the luncheon.
And unless CP is lining up at CB it really doesn't matter....Though best of luck to him healthwise. He has had a boot the entire time except for at the luncheon.
He had them off in part of the WOM video that they just released. He also said he should be out of the boot and walking by the end of the week.He was in slippers for a team meeting last week.
Given the number of plays we will have at altitude, being 6-7 lbs. lighter than everyone else is really valuable.Average OL is 6'-4" 302lb nationwide at the FBS level.
Colorado is listed an average of 6'-4" 296lbs.
Morris - not build anywhere near RGIII or KJ Jefferson and those dudes almost got killed in the Briles offense. Morris will die.TCU preview
Best pro prospects:
Josh Newton - projected day 2
andrew coker - Projected early day 3
brandon coleman - Projected early day 3
Players to keep an eye on:
Flash Robinson, Savion Washington, Willis Patrick, Emani Bailey, damonic williams, hodges, helm, and some scouts like Obiazor.
Best freshman on their squad: Cordele Russell, WR
Strengths: OL, depth, starting CBs, LBs, coaching, sound - generally will not beat themselves. This is something SD brought to TCU.
Weaknesses: QB under pressure and throwing in tight windows, lack of premium skill position players, overaggressive safeties who lack discipline.
OL is the best position group.
WR is the position group their fans are high but I am not. Listening to their coaches, I have red flags. The biggest is no #1 option and that's massive as Q really did a good job of getting good coverage looks making it easier for other players.
I am not the highest on their TE room, while they love Wiley, he's lacks too much fluidty for me in the modern game.
I am higher on Morris than most overall as a QB but lower on him than TCU fans. I honestly would say I am inline with Briles on him. He should do well in this scheme. It fits but he has to be able to make plays, if not, some defenses will crush you.
TCU is a deep team. Not many clear flaws outside of coverage issues, weak pass rush, and lack of studs at skill positions. I do believe overall the move to pace with Morris will favor them overall. I expect them to compete for the Big XII title this year.
Now do P5Average FBS DL: 6'-3" 270lbs
Average CU DL: 6'-3" 277lbs
Harder to find info broken down like that and I am not going through other rosters. Now do P5

What I did find indicates maybe 6'-5", 280lb but nothing "conclusive"
I can assure you that the ****ty previews this year will be reaching a new low.
Yeah. Season openers are such a crap shoot. There are so many scenarios that could play out in this game that make it hard to predict.Saturday may not tell us much either way. The following two weeks are going to be better indicators IMO.

no way? bro.My god people, we can drink a glass of kool-aid, but let's not guzzle the entire jug. TCU is a good team and at home. There's a good possibility of a loss here. That said, we have a puncher's chance and there's no way this game doesn't stay within 2 scores either way.
Are you serious? If I make a jug of Kool-Aid, I am drinking all of it. Sometimes guzzling. Who stops at one glass? Are you the parent who gives their child dry, hard cucumber bread as a treat? Drink that sugar laced Kool-Aid until the wheels fall off.My god people, we can drink a glass of kool-Aid, but let's not guzzle the entire jug. TCU is a good team and at home. I'm about as bright as the typical CU grad: when you are at altitude, with less atmospheric pressure, don't you weigh a little less? Very little?Given the number of plays we will have at altitude, being 6-7 lbs. lighter than everyone else is really valuable.
Weight has nothing to do with atmospheric pressure.I'm about as bright as the typical CU grad: when you are at altitude, with less atmospheric pressure, don't you weigh a little less? Very little?
In science and engineering, the weight of an object is the force acting on the object due to acceleration or gravity.
I'm not sure if anyone else here listens to the Shutdown Fullcast podcast, but their episode last week was "Bold 2023 predictions" that were sent in by listeners.
This one made the cut for them to discuss.
They decided that it's probable to happen. To be extremely clear, SDSU plays only two games against P12 competition this year: home vs. UCLA (which the fullcast crew decided would be a win) and @ Oregon State (which they decided to be a loss).
Among other choice quotes: "They got better... but they are SMALL. Their fight video looked like it was shot at a HS practice. I'm afraid of what a team like Utah could do to them."
Now I really want CU to start proving people wrong beginning Saturday.
Don’t kid yourself.I'm about as bright as the typical CU grad: when you are at altitude, with less atmospheric pressure, don't you weigh a little less? Very little?
