Younger daughters first game. Well, half.
This feels like when we tried to boost Dre’s draft stock by showing off his all around game instead of letting him do what he does best.Dak has regressed tremendously
All we need is rim run, rebound, and rim protection all things he can do. Just spending too much time on perimeterThis feels like when we tried to boost Dre’s draft stock by showing off his all around game instead of letting him do what he does best.
Baskin needs to come off the bench. He's not great on defense. Against MSU, you need grit and size. I'd go with Ruffin, Malone, Jak, Diop and RJ. That said, Hammond will start and will get eaten alive by their guards. I also think Tad knows that have no shot at any wins, so you'll see him continue to go 10 deep each game.I hope Tad now has an idea of what his rotation will be going into Maui. Malone, Baskin, Jak, Ruff and Hammond by default. After that?? RJ, Rancik, Diop for limited minutes?
Is Chaminade still in this tournament?Baskin needs to come off the bench. He's not great on defense. Against MSU, you need grit and size. I'd go with Ruffin, Malone, Jak, Diop and RJ. 72 in KenPom is not bad at all.We have a pretty good team. Problem is that our conference is mostly very good to great teams plus the top teams in the HI tournament on our schedule.
I think fans are too negative on this group. I'm also hearing casual fans with inflated expectations because all they see right now is 4-0.
I'd have predicted 150 or so.72 in KenPom is not bad at all.
Probably finish 100-150 unless SOS props us up.I'd have predicted 150 or so.
Id still take Baskins offense, and D isnt that bad...6-8 FG, 7rb, 2 blk, 0 TOs, 13pt in 20 minutes. Give Diop back minutes.Baskin needs to come off the bench. He's not great on defense. Chaminade in tourney every OTHER year.Is Chaminade still in this tournament?
I completely forgot they'd went to that.Chaminade in tourney every OTHER year.
Tad has started Jaki in 2 of the 4 games, including w/ Malone, Baskin & Diop today. Makes me wonder if he’s trying to get mismatches with size to start & with smaller size for pace off bench? But personally, I would like to see Ruffin at 2 to start?
Tad says w/ teams good depth it could vary greatly how many minutes guys get from game to game. So who starts may not mean as much as who finishes?
With UCF’s early upset over ranked Tx A&M, they moved into enough votes in AP Top-25 for Top-35; which means TEN Big12 teams in Top-35 now. Memphis Top-40 in AP.
Maui: If CU loses to Michigan State, and beats Memphis in second game, could show CU borderline tourney team? But likely Iowa State/Auburn/Carolina in third game tough! I’ll be surprised if more than one or two Big 12 teams are outside of NET 120 by end of season? CU’s SOS could put them Top-60?
It’s also November MSU rather than March MSUI also don’t hate our matchup with MSU, Frankie Fidler and Baskin are similar, their guards are solid but not studs. Their guards are fast so we will have to get back in transition but if we can make them score in the half court think we can make it competitive.
They are only shooting 20% from 3.
Rancik has a lot of similarities to "freshman Tristan" with some lost or error riddled stretches. But he's more college ready than Tristan was and I think you're right - play him even when fans are frustrated and wondering why the hell he's on the court so much when a guy like Carrington is more reliable.Rancik needs minutes. I don’t care if he sucks in those minutes. He needs to play. I’m sky high on him. He’s gonna look great and horrible this season - possibly in the same game - but he needs to play through it.
More impressed with Baskin than I thought I’d be. Dude is a top notch cutter on offense. Everyone else needs to start paying more attention to that. Easy 4 or so points a game there.
Other than PG, I’m happier with this team than anticipated. Lots of guys. However I don’t think we have the DUDE necessary for them all to shine.
KJ would have been ideal…
No. Unfortunately. Is Chaminade still in this tournament?
I disagree, but it's cool. I think Baskin is going to get completely neutralized once we start playing real competition and he's facing very athletic 3s and stretch 4s.He's a good, fairly versatile scorer and a very good rebounder. Baskin needs to be starting.
Much better to work on trying to develop someone's ability to defend without fouling than rolling with some of our guys who are so raw we can't depend on them to give us positive or consistent play with any aspect of their games.
Playing Carrington over him makes no sense to me other than making rancik earn the minutesRancik has a lot of similarities to "freshman Tristan" with some lost or error riddled stretches. I think he's more athletic with a lot more bounce than Siefert had and he was an effective player for us against this type of competition.I disagree, but it's cool. He's worlds beyond Siewert in terms of athleticism.I think he's more athletic with a lot more bounce than Siefert had and he was an effective player for us against this type of competition.
We've been spoiled a bit with athletic forwards like Dre, Bey, Jabari and Tristan.
