(Starting this thread earlier than normal since I may not have internet access coming up for over a week.)

After a tough start to conference play, Men's basketball (4-5 overall, 0-2 in conference play) can hopefully get some mojo back as they have 4 straight home non-conference games (3 of which are being covered in this thread) before the New Year heralds the rest of the Pac 12 schedule. The 1st game of the home stand is this Thursday against the CSU Rams (6-3, 0-0), after which the team gets a one week break from games before they face off against the North Alabama Lions (5-4, 0-0) NEXT Thursday, and then face off against the Northern Colorado (UNC) Bears () on Sunday, afternoon 12/18.

This Thursday's evening game is slotted for ESPN2, while both of next week's games is scheduled to be on the Pac 12 Network. (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this thread.)

Go Buffs!!!

BOULDER — After playing just three home games in their first nine contests of the season, the Colorado Buffaloes will finally get more than a taste of their home floor over the next two weeks with four straight games at the CU Events Center.

The stretch tips off Thursday with a 7 p.m. home matchup with in-state rival Colorado State (ESPN2). The four contests will mark the final non-conference stretch of the year for Colorado.

Thursday's game will be the first between Tad Boyle's 4-5 Buffs and the 6-3 Rams in three years. In an interesting quirk of the rivalry, there isn't a single player on CU's roster that has ever played against Colorado State.

But Boyle isn't worried about his players getting "up" for the game. An expected crowd in the 9,000 to 10,000 range should provide ample juice for both teams.

What Boyle most wants to see is his team put together a full 40-minute game, something that has been rare this season. Colorado has lost its last two games — Arizona State at home and at Washington — and both featured roughly five-minute lulls that made the difference.
...

BUFFS LEADERS: Sophomore guard KJ Simpson leads CU in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game … Junior forward Tristan da Silva is averaging 12.0 points and 4.2 rebounds … Junior J'Vonne Hadley leads Colorado in rebounding, averaging 7.3 boards per game.

ABOUT THE RAMS: The Rams are coming off an 88-83 home loss to Northern Colorado, CSU's third loss in its last five games.

But they are no doubt a quality team, and have gotten better with the return of Isaiah Stevens. The senior guard missed CSU's first seven games with a foot injury but has returned to the lineup and is averaging more than 16 points per game.

One of the Rams' key players has yet to start. Patrick Cartier, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound transfer from Hillsdale College (a DII school), is averaging 12 points and three rebounds per game. He has the ability to score inside and out — he had three 3-pointers in the loss to UNC — and is shooting nearly 59 percent from the floor this season.

The Rams are 20th in the nation in field goal percentage (49.6) and are fifth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.76). They are also averaging more than 17 assists per game.

SERIES RECORDS: This will be the 130th meeting between the two programs, with CU holding a 91-38 edge, including a 54-9 record in Boulder. Colorado won the last meeting, a 56-48 decision in Fort Collins on Dec. 13, 2019.

It will be interesting to see Kountz going against his former team.

Kountz plays for UNC, not CSU, we saw him last year (?). Clearly had a larger role at UNC, so it was rather obvious why he moved on. Seemed like a good fit for all involved.

My dumb. Thanks.

The 'sold out' is great, but it's the last day of classes at CU. I hope these aren't csu fans filling it up. Should be an electric crowd.

I'm seeing CU as 3.5 favorites. Since we're at home, that sounds like they think were 1 point better. The players realize they've been Jekyll and Hyde all season and want nothing more than to hit their stride and be consistently "on" and aggressive. Hoping this is the game when things get straigtened out. Now that DS is changing the image of CU sports, should we look for Tad in sunglasses and his Giorgio Armani gear?

It's the last day of regular classes. Finals are next week, so all students are still here. Reports are the student section will be overflowing.

thanks. My daughter got a CU email telling her it's a sellout, but how to get on a kind of wait-list.

student sell out, not a regular sell out. Actually, super disappointing. I don't know what's going on at the AD's office, but they are proper ****in boyle the last few years. The changes on the east end of the Keg have been a disaster.

Yeah they removed the GA seats and increased the price and it's been a complete failure. Entire section is usually empty

I misread the email they sent my daughter: it indicated that students could line up pre-game and maybe get in, if there were still unsold seats and they had their student athletic pass. They need to do what they can to fill it up.
How about getting DS to urge people to support all CU sports. Likely if he announced he was attending a game, it would sellout

Yeah they did that for ASU as well but the section was still empty.
I agree, if Coach Prime is going to be announced they should tell people. That would get people to show up.

I'd even let BHS, FHS students in, if CU students didn't fill it up. Not many people would show up 1/2 hour before a game hoping, but..

Actually, I already checked that - but don't see how Allbuffs would have my cell number. And, I don't know Goose
you should have a notification next to the mail icon at the top of the webpage. Gary was teasing you w/ the phone in that shot from a commercial

thanks. that was it. I had looked at that, but the icon next to it (my name) said I had 4800 messages and there were only 5 by the envelope, so I moved on

very important game today for the team to swing fan momentum back in their favor

I'll be watching tonight, but not going to lie, based on the last few outings I'm not prioritizing watching the games as much if I have other plans that conflict...despite throwing down $30+ a month for sling just to get the P12 network

Are you saying the student section for ASU was empty?

No student section was good. The bleachers on the opposite side were empty. Pretty poor non student attendance in general.
Ah, yes. The students showed out for ASU as I imagine they will again tonight. FTR, Bohn used to sell all the seats in the GA section above the tunnel for $10 every game and would adverstise the hell out of it. Always at least 80% full. They are now $25 each for crap opponents and $35 for name brand opponents. And the section is 95% empty every game. SHOCKER.
