Games thread- MEN'S BBALL restarts Pac 12 play visiting Stanford (Thursday, 12/29/22, 9:00 PM MT; ESPNU) & Cal (Saturday, 4:00 PM MT, Pac 12 Network)

KJ dragged this team over the finish line tonight, near single-handedly. No disrespect intended to any other players, but wow. Heroic performance from him.
You should disrespect some of the other players.

Several of them would have served the team better by forgetting to make it to the airplane for the trip.

Another boring win.

No worries. Had fun watching.

Hoping my ass unclenches by the weekend.

Woah. According to Kenpom, that was the 2d best team we've beat all year.

Also, anyone else notice LOB was on the floor instead of Nique in the last 4 minutes?

Nice gritty win on the road!!!

Tad rode the refs pretty hard. Suprised he wasn't T"d up.

KJ was fantastic. LOB was fantastic. Lovering finally finished at the rim. I am very happy!

First game I have been to since Covid. Interestingly the Stanford game in 2020 a few weeks before shelter in place started was the last game I went to. Tonight was both frustrating and enjoyable. The arena was pretty empty and we had seats pretty close to the floor so you could hear it all with the players and especially Tad yelling. It was nice to leave with the W.

Was there tonight behind the CU bench (Jabari not far away) and in some ways felt more like a high school game from an attendance standpoint. Lots of CU fans…

Was an intense, chippy game near the end and I’ve never seen Tad so fired up…. My kids could hear more than I wanted.

So much enjoyed the CU fan yelling to get the Ford players to miss their free throws in a quiet gym.

KJ is a beast….
LL is so solid. More physical and heady than I expected. Future is bright here.
Luke O’s role tonight was huge on both sides. He deserves more minutes the way he played. Start vs Cal?
Tristan was off from the start… maybe big brother on his mind? We’ll see better days from him.

Gotta close early against a trrrible Cal team.

A few things for people to gnaw on after reading this thread.

Luke and Niques freshman year was the Covid year we were stacked and they play 45 and 56 minutes respectively for the entire season.
They basically are sophomores. KJ played 170 more minutes in his freshman year than Luke played in his first two. Both can play two more years. With Luke the way he’s playing I’d love that!
Great to have and experienced good role player on the team! You can see his confidence sky rocket this year.

Road wins in college basketball are extremely hard regardless if you are the better team. To win on the road when your second leading scorer has his first single digit scoring output in a month (Da Silva), and your most consistent player (Hadley) had his lowest rebounding and scoring totals of the year, is an amazing accomplishment.

Holy ****. Tad is as mad at Nique as I've ever seen him at a player. Grabbing his jersey and shaking him. Nique seems totally checked out mentally.
Nique deserved it too, that was definitely a wtf moment. If you need a coach to have you checked in mentally for a conference road game you really need, I don't know what the hell to tell ya.

What's going on with his brother?

This was my 3rd game of the day. Two men's and one women's game. First two games were not close so this one ended up making up for that.

KJ was incredible in the clutch. Who else do you want to have the ball at that point of the game.

Got out of there with a hard earned W.

Saw taught yanking on the jersey of Nique. Not good for Nique.

How much of an NBA prospect is Simpson? He’s averaging over 18ppg right now

So are 70 other D1 players, the majority are 6’ foot guards and none of them are on draft boards.

NBA cares about age , potential, and positional size. There were two draft picks last year under 6’3.
JD Davison and Kennedy Chandler. Both 5 star freshman 1 and dones.

We went through the same thing with Kin during his sophomore year, and he stayed all 4 years. Expect the same.

Deservedly so. He's really stepped up his game this year. Big props to him.

LOB was a better offensive piece than Nique even before he was making 3s. and he rebounds and hustles. Makes fewer dumb plays. Nique's been getting minutes out of necessity. He's had 1 or 2 decent games all year. Based on what we saw today, Tads had it up to here.
Yeah, but will Tad's known stubborness keep him from changing things up? The Cal game might be a great opportunity to change up the lineup and the rotations. Ruffin was meh last night, but it was the first conference road game of his career. Why not start him or LOB and see what happens? Personally I like LOB coming off the bench as a 6th man and giving us a spark.

We got a kick out of him, just as I told my wife that it was louder when Stanford was shooting free throws (by pretty much him alone) the little girls to my right in Stanford cheerleading uniforms started yelling during ours. It definitely did not feel like a formidable environment. The guy next to me at one point leaned over and said I assume you are local right. I said yes and he said I couldn’t imagine anyone traveling for this game.
