George King Declares For Draft (returning)

If players follow King lead and work on their shooting and other skills they will be better.

Need to find person to take last shot or create when clock below five seconds

That's my take. By example to an extent since he puts in a lot of extra work. But holding others accountable and whatnot? If any of the seniors, I expect Miller to fill that role.
Exactly. Not trying to knock George. He is a hard worker, and his teammates like him. He's just a vocal person. You can see this on and off the court. Tory on the other hand is pumped up, and can see him taking more of a leadership role.

Could see some freshman take hold of some of the leadership as well. They are already talking in their interviews about wanting to do something special together over the next 4 years. If they hold each other accountable, that will permeate through the rest of the team.

Sounds like Battey is defenitely vocal and not afraid to be a leader. I just hope Tory (maybe Namon...don't know much about him) or someone steps up so we don't have to put that much of a role on a true freshman.

Being vocal doesn't make you a leader. Ski & XJ already proved that being vocal seniors doesn't mean s**t w/o substance.

King is the first wing to lead the team in rebounding since Dre. Next year's team won't have any true vet leadership. Void of that, I'll take a quality senior who does what Tad demands and plays within himself over a vocal guy who cares more about how many points he has than winning.

It'd be big if King can find the level he found his rs-soph year and is able build from there. He's one of those guys that can make you go 'WTF?' on both the good and bad. He'll definitely get the playing time he needs to prove himself next season.

His preseason was horrible; however, his in-conference numbers were better this year than his breakout season. True shooting % in-conference went from 55.5% in '16 to 59.6% in '17. He finally became an alpha rebounder. Certainly, we're going to need him to be as consistent as he was as a sophomore.

King has all the physical tools and shooting touch to be a 3 and D NBA player but he would need to make a monumental leap on defense. 6'11 wing span with pogo stick legs and only has 16 career blocks? Absolute travesty.

King shot a wonderful 30% from the field in his last three games of the season...going 6 for 20...averaging 6.5 points per game... not exactly the performance of a future NBA prospect. Dude has immense physical skills....hope he translates those in his last year into production similar to his sophomore year. Even Tad thinks the application and evaluation is dumb. "This is just kind of the norm today,” Boyle said. “Personally I don’t get it"

Using Tad as a metric of any trend post-1988 is not a tactic you want to use.
