I love how everyone hated Nembot before last season. People wanted him benched and kind of hoped he declared for the NFL draft due to his measurables... Now he's considered probably our best lineman.

I think you're characterizing posters unfairly. Before last season many posters felt Nembot had underperformed and were really hoping he'd live up to his potential.

He made some sizable strides in performance and played really well last season. Now fans are excited by his play.

To my way of thinking that's a reasonably rational response to improvement.

it helps Skinsfan55's fragile self esteem to believe he is the only genius around here. Some people need to be the only one in a room wearing the white hat.

Of course he's right and "everyone" else is wrong.
 
To add to Orr's post, it was acknowledged by most posters that Nembot was our best option at RT by a good margin. Not sure I saw much resembling hate at all.

The guy had been a complete sieve on pass protection for two straight years. Acknowledging and bemoaning he was our best option at RT by a good margin was completely appropriate. I was very impressed with his progress last year, and was not expecting it.

I was surprised by the progress of the entire OL unit...somehow they have become the strongest player group on the team. Props to MM, BL and Bernardi.

Nothing like age and maturity on both sides of the line!

For this first time since MM has been here, the lines will be manned by upperclassmen, most with a redshirt or JC experience. No more 18 yr. olds against men.

Me too. A lot of posters were dying for Callahan to start at LT but the coaches think he's best able to help the team as a guard and even with the immediate eligibility he didn't crack the lineup. He ought to step right in this year and play well. LT is still probably the weakest position on the line, but I think Irwin is serviceable.

It's this kind of stuff that makes the level of discussion on this board lower than it should be. Attack the post. Not the poster.

There were many people calling for Nembot to be replaced, but didn't like the available alternatives very much. I don't remember taking a strong position either way. I was just glad that the consensus on him seems to be that he's vastly improved and most fans are now glad to have him where they were tepid at best before.

I re-read my post and maybe you're right. There wasn't hate per se, but I thought I remembered a lot of negativity on Nembot. Either way, I'm glad everyone seems to think he's improved and I hope his draft stock climbs over the course of the season. The more draft picks that CU can produce, the better. With our in-state talent leaning towards offensive linemen and our recent picks at the position, we should be Offensive Line U.

There you go riding in with the white hat again shooting your red rep pea shooter. Pew. Pew. Pew.

Nembot had had been described early on as "the first guy you want to see getting off the bus." His personal odyssey and maturity leaving Africa to play American football is inspirational. Sure it drives people nuts when Nembot gets speed rushed around the outside, or gets flagged for illegal procedure. He came to CU as a known project with great measurables and as a raw undeveloped talent. It is a treat to watch this fan favorite develop before our eyes into someone that is finally catching the attention of NFL talent scouts. The reps and hard work is finally paying off for Stephone.

What drags the board down, skinny, is when YOU shamelessly paint fan sentiment unfairly and in broad terms, then present yourself as a some know it all authority.

learn to actually understand who is saying what and engage in an honest discussion. Otherwise kindly post less.
