Good article on MacIntyre from ESPN

great line:

You can’t sacrifice certain things to get quick results,” MacIntyre said. “You have to work for the long haul. You have to work for the process of it. We always talk about the process and the people and developing them. I truly believe if you do that, the success will come.”

let him do his process his way.

Well written and I appreciate the link. I also look forward to the day when we are not the subject of the once a month "root for the underdog" article.

While I don't necessarily disagree with what he's saying here, it does sound a lot like what Hawk used to say. I'll give MM credit for not speaking in tired cliches all the time, but this talk of "doing it the right way", and "working on the process" sounds awful familiar to me. The difference - I hope - is that MM actually knows how to accomplish what he's talking about.

Nick Saban is big on the process of winning

Point: It's coach speak. Just because one failed coach used it that we are familiar with does not make it some bad thing to say.

I'm certainly willing to give MM the benefit of the doubt. He built SJSU using his process. He's implemented the process before. Hawkins had no freaking idea what the Hell he was talking about.

Yeah, I think if MacIntyre wasn't providing any substance (ala Hawkins) to his comments we'd be right to be concerned about him using coach speak, but MacIntyre has been detailed in his comments.

Totally agree. Recruit some decent linemen on both sides of the ball, and the "culture" and "process" starts to take care of itself. Sure, you have to continue to manage and coach and teach, but talent and winning trumps everything else. And while we're at it ... turning SJSU around and turning this dumpster fire around are kinda apples and oranges. The entire Pac-12 is either already loaded, or on the upswing ... except us (and maybe Cal, although their prospects and coaching pedigree are better). You can't have 12 bowl-eligible teams, it's never happened. Somebody has to be the doormat. So unless something drastic changes, we are Iowa State for the Pac-12 for the foreseeable future.

He has turned programs around, but his brief loss of composure after the Arizona game concerns me a bit.

I actually liked his fiestiness. I would be concerned if he was not upset and showing some emotion about losing. He did it in a constructive way, answer the questions albeit in a salty manner, and took responsibility. No issues with that for me.

Don't really see the issue with him being pissed off after losing a game that we could have won

I don't have an issue with him being pissed or with him thinking we could have won the game. I'm glad that is what he thinks. But, lets be honest with ourselves. We play that game 100 times and are lucky to win 10.

Uh huh sure

What about that game made you think we would win more than that?
The Arizona game? I watched it again last night. If we don't have basic and repeated defensive defensive breakdowns on that stupid QB spread option, we have a serious chance at winning. I don't know if we decided Denker can't beat us so shut down Kerry or if we just failed assignments, but if we have even below average coverage of that play, it is a final scoring team wins type game.

Sure, but if you look at the average yards per play, # of first down, third down conversions, total yards, etc... you knew UA was playing a better game overall. Due to TOs we stopped the bleeding and made it closer than it appears, especially in the first half.

That said, at least this team gets TOs. Dang, how many did we have during the previous 2 years? That is definitely one stat I'm liking.

I guess it goes back and forth. Shoulda/coulda/woulda. The Buffs didn't execute and neither did UA for a long period of time.

I heard Bell say AZ came out with a new formation and they couldn't adjust. Heard the same thing about ASU. I'm hoping it's their youth and not Baers problem. Either way, they have to address this.

Computer simulations? Really?

Arizona trucked us. But I guess mark it down it "almost wins" column. We are really good with those.

I'm sorry it hurts your feelings when people think actual game results matter. Keep on trucking.

Umm no

My original post to Az was a sarcastic post saying it doesn't matter how many times they played, we still lost. He didn't pick up on it so I pulled some stats that doubled his guess. Big whoop. I didn't say anything about coulda, woulda, shoulda's.

Other than saying MacIntyre was pissed about a game we could have won. Do you read your own posts?
