Guess the Attendance: UCLA

But 3,000 at $50 requires fewer resources to service/sell, so is a higher profit situation. Excluding other considerations, your profits are generally higher with fewer number of sales but higher $/sale.

Granted, there are a lot of other considerations in this situation, and they are important.

oh absolutely, that was my homer assessment as a fan, I want to see the stadium full. You don't do business and say "I can sell more at less and make the same amount." You aim to make as much as you can per sale.

I was at a pregame party at "The Jungle" last season prior to the Arizona game. (The Jungle is a notorious frat-rented party residence in the heart of the Hill with a huge elevated back deck and backyard; can hold a crowd of 500.) Up walks AD Rick George and a few staffers, mingling with the crowd a couple of hours prior to kickoff. He was passing out the $25 student section tickets to everyone like they were Halloween candy. It was pretty cool. My point is, yes, they can afford to adjust prices to get more butts in the seats.

That's hilarious, I was one of the "hosts" of that party. I graduated last year, but my old roommates live at "The Railyard" now and they do a similar type pre-game every game day. RG came by and gave out tickets to the ASU game this year as well.

Why do they call it "The Railyard"?

I would hope with a premium product and more people coming through the gates they would be more prepared. Against ASU they ran out of just about every single food item by half time. That's bush league stuff.

Not sure who that falls on, but completely unacceptable.

Ticket prices are not going to go down now that RG has a premium product going forward.

I would encourage him to tier the lower sections on the sideline every 10-15 rows or so, freezing the upper rows and slowly ratcheting up the lower ones until there is a marketable difference.

Row 10 on the 50 could be 2x row 40 on the 50 over time.

Over time, the way to make that work is for the first 10 rows to be chairbacks with cupholders. As they prove their profit potential, it becomes 20 rows, then 30, etc. over the course of several years. They've proved that model at the Keg.

So you must know Drew. I was a Dad who held special privileges at that party, which entitled me to go inside the locked house and piss in the filthy restroom. I did so gladly. P.S.--That party was great. Made me feel sort of young again.

That's a perfect way to fund the stadium upgrades at the same time - I had not thought of such a thing.

Still steadily moving some. Going to need a really good day tomorrow though. I am hoping the students pack in there though.

Let's hope people keep buying! Looks like sold some though which is good. Need the opposite side of the stadium to sell though. It better be a student sellout 100%

I think the students will show up. Not only is it a night game, its on Thursday. People won't have much else going on which is good.

Wow I didn't expect that, I thought people would come out and be excited. Boo to the people who aren't showing! I thought at least 45K.

Okay, out of curiosity I'm looking through some of these sections...it's not as bad as that map suggests. Like section 109 has 1 single seat available...some of the upper 200's have 1-10 total available.

Okay so I took like 20 minutes and looked through sections. Quick guesstimating, ingenuity and a little math puts us around 44,000. Were not doing nearly as bad as we think! Thank god I got paid to do that. Nearly 8,000 seats are of a lower level variety on the sidelines. Most upper deck stuff is completely gone.

This is the 15th ranked team in the nation. CU fans HAVE to show up. This team has done their part, time for the fans to do theirs.
