I agree with what your saying, but Scott is something else. If he stays healthy he could rewrite our record book. Especially the way the offensive line is shaping up.
 
i dont really know anything about anything, but im putting all my marbles in the darrell scott basket. i think he is the next college football prophet.

He is really fighting for the starting spot with Sumler. Moyd and Lockridge are situational RBs. They all serve their purpose, but Lockridge and Moyd will never be every-down backs.

Scott will earn it. No doubt about that. I can see both Scott and Polk sharing plenty of carries. This isn't a bad thing. Hawk used this in recruiting Scott. It keeps both of them healthy, avoiding the wear and tear that comes with carrying the ball 35-40+ times a game. They'll make a fearsome duo.

Really, the fact that he would most probably split a significant amount of carries was taken by scott as a positive?

That Hawk is a mad recruiter!

This was one of Hawks main points when recruiting Scott. He'll still get plenty of touches. But look at the workhorse rb's in college. over half of them have run into injuries because of the workload. Hawk's pitch was to keep DScott healthy for a possible NFL career. :thumbsup:

Its just a strange approach to use. I totally agree with the idea of not wearing out a future NFL star, but most of these kids are all about how much attention and how many touches they are going to get. Production is dependant upon touches. Makes me hopeful for Scott if he can see how important it is that the ball gets shared.

You hit it on the nose with "most". I met Darrell the spring game weekend and he did not seem like a person who was all about himself. Everyone who knew who he was was going up to him and saying hi and such and he would talk to you, shake your hand, and actually respond when you talked to him with full sentences not one or two word answers trying to get you to go away. It was almost like a paid professional athlete at a big publicity event. Darrell seemed like a bright kid and size wise he is at least what scout listed him as(6'2" 215) and he actually looked a little chubby. I am 6'2" and I was looking eye to eye with him. He did run a 4.31 at the scout combine. If he stays healthy the CU jersey for sale in 09' will be Darrell's, not Cody's.

Agreed, I went up to him after the spring game and introduced myself. He looked me right in the eye and shook my hand and talked to me for a good 2 minutes. He also gave me an autograph and couldn't have been nicer. He seems to be a great guy and incredibly personable!!

As a note to the topic: its good to hear that Scott seems to be a nice guy. Looking forward to him nicely handing the football to the refs after scoring a touchdown for the buffs... about 60 to 70 times:)

That is amazing. 700 carries by ONE running back.

700 carries by ONE running back in an OPTION offense. And he missed several games during his junior year with a broken bone in his leg.
