Herm Edwards Over/Under

the line is 2 years

The tie breaker, fired/quit/heart attack?

I think right about 2 years will be it. He is to stubborn to quit after one but the second year will be such a disaster that he will want out as badly as they want him gone.

Mack Brown couldn't pull of the CEO act with all the resources they had at Texas, Herm won't be able to do it in the desert.

Asu isnt run by smart people, so it will at least 6 games for them to realize that they made a terrible error. Herm Edwards isnt as sane as he was when he losing his mind “coaching” the chiefs, so it will take him at least 9 games for him to figure out that the pixies he is hallucinating arent really there.

I dont know how long edwards lasts at asu, but I just hope its as long as the fine people at asu deserve.

I am looking forward to this. Its going to be fun. FUN.

I think he'll get a second year but I don't know if he'll make it through it. Should be entertaining though, he'll lose his **** at some point.

I just watched him on PAC media day. What an asshole

He came across as very arrogant considering he has not accomplished jack at the college level. He reminds me of Embree with how he challenged and recruited Colorado High School kids. I don't think this is going to end well for him.

Over, but the wheels start to fall off about 4-5 games into year 3 and he's gone by the end of that season. And I get a heavy D-Bag vibe from him as well.

I think some of you guys are a little harsh on Herm. Was he a good hire - well time will tell, but sure, it's definitely an odd and suspicious hire. However, he seems like solid person. I personally also think he's a bit over-the-top at times, but he never seems condescending towards others. His exuberance and confidence doesn't make him an asshole... ...and can't even say arrogant either. I have a few friends that dabbled a little in the NFL, and one played for Herm in NY. He loved playing for Herm for what it's worth. I hope ASU sucks, but overall, I actually like Herm.

this is going to be a trainwreck. i hope it is a long slow moving trainwreck that leaves them devastated for a decade. over or under 2 years, i don't care-- just so the damage is done.

Yeah I don't get the negativity about him as a person, either. He says some weird **** from time to time, but he seems like a good dude. He's just an NFL guy through and through and what's required for the college game couldn't be more different than the NFL, so it's going to be fun to watch ASU implode.

Over, but Herm seems a little out of touch with what it takes to be a successful college coach (e.g., tireless and savvy recruiting).

Agreed. I'm in CT and my brother works at ESPN and has said Herm was actually a really good guy. Strange in that the personality you see on TV and in interviews is just how he is all the time (could you imagine living with that much enthusiasm all the time) but a good dude nonetheless.

I think he'll be able to get the kids fired up but I don't see this ending up well for ASU or Herm.

Wait a second. Before I give a prediction I need to clarify the rules. Two years from when, exactly?

Over. I don't think he will be a complete disaster. I don't think he's going to be anything better than mediocre, either.

Over, because the AD will get that long and protect him. It's a high risk hire in that they will either break thru and get it going (I doubt) or they will fail miserably.

I too don’t get the hate towards him. I like him, I like his enthusiasm even if he says weird stuff. I originally said (months ago, when he was hired ) it would pay off dividends because I believed he would be able to recruit kids with that enthusiasm and his name recognition. Now I’m not so certain but I’ll still go over and hold my initial prediction.

It's not hate. Or it shouldn't be. Herm is, by all accounts, a class guy.

It's the dysfunction of a situation that I'd go ballistic over if it happened at CU.

Imagine us hiring a former agent to be our AD. Then, that agent hires a former client to be "CEO" of our football program - a guy who had been out of coaching, had never coached college, and didn't even know what our mascot was. With that, our AD had done contracts with coordinators to pick them for our new HC. This is not a situation that's going to work.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t aware of everything that happened or has been going on. My initial prognostication was what I said, I thought he would be able to sell kids to play hard for him.
