Herm Edwards Over/Under

This likely isn't going to be a popular opinion in here, but I have been very impressed with ASU so far this year and I think Herm Edwards is going to outperform national expectations by a large margin. In their first two games, ASU looks VERY well prepared, and they have been playing very physical, disciplined football for the first time in years. Their Defense (especially the front 7) is legit, and absolutely took it to Michigan State. Before the season started, many chalked this game up as a win....we are going to absolutely have our hands full with this team.

I think the organization and professional approach will follow a similar trajectory for Herm at ASU as it did for Mora at UCLA. But I think the upsides will be lower.

Fair assessment on face value....but I think Mora's failure was due more to some of Mora's failures as a mentor than his organizational structure. Mora was never able to keep respect and discipline within UCLA's locker room, and it translated onto the field big time with cheap and undisciplined play. I don't see that happening with Herm. I hope I am wrong, as I do not want to see ASU become really good....it's too easy to recruit there.

Good points. Counter point: Other than Ohio State and maybe Wisconsin, the Big10 is trash this year. Michigan State was taken to the wire at home by a mediocre Utah State team and Lewerke is extremely overrated. ASU is going to have difficulties running the ball this year and the chuck it up 50-60 yards downfield every third play is going to get noticed and outschemed. The ceiling is 7-5.

That all may be true, time will tell. That said, I am not calling for ASU to win 10 games this year. All I am saying is that I think Herm looks like he could be very successful at ASU....as opposed to the general perception that he would be a colossal failure.

I'll give you that. Jury's still out, but the early returns say that I was wrong about this being a boneheaded hire.

Give it a little while. I’m still not convinced it wasn’t a bonehead hire.

What I'm waiting for is to see how Herm reacts when some bull**** goes down, and it will. Dude will lose his **** at some point, it's inevitable.:D

Biggest problem in the ASU program is that they're front runners. Doesn't take much for them to implode when they face adversity.

call me more concerned than before the season started. There is talent on that team and they seem to be working through it. Sets up to be a bigger game than we expected 2 weeks ago.
That receiver is a beast, man. That will be a big test on how they deal with him and what the scheme will be like that week.

Fairly adverse to start 4Q. Wilkins and WR are going to win them some games. Run D looks real so far.

I think everyone overlooked that they went 7-5 last year and the folks around the program thought they would be better this year with the returning talent. Herm has certainly done a good job of having them ready to go but I think the jury on Herm will be determined in 2-3 years as the program becomes more his and less Todd Graham leftovers.

saw some quotes from edwards and his coaches. they said they were making up new plays on the sidelines in the 2nd half to try to crack the msu defense. he said that the players have a high degree of trust in them to be able to go out and execute on the fly a bunch of stuff they never even practiced.

if i were a fan of that program, that would both amaze and terrify me.

Vet QB with N'Keal Harry to throw to. I'd be going playground, too, if I wasn't moving the ball.
