Former BV West standout makes strides at UCLA

Jon Embree thinks the world of his oldest son. Most fathers do.
And like most fathers, he compliments his son whenever possible. He watches him play football as often as he can, and with enough hard work, he says, his boy could one day play in the NFL — just like he did.
That praise could easily be passed off as standard admiration between family members, but it is impossible to ignore the substantial progress Taylor Embree has made during his short time at UCLA, which is Kansas State’s opponent on Saturday night.
Coming out of high school, Taylor, a former Overland Park resident and Blue Valley West standout, was a lightly recruited wide receiver with few options at the next level. UCLA was the only program to offer him a scholarship, so to Los Angeles he went.
