How do these wins personally affect you?

This is a bit petty, but a lammie alum I know always, ALWAYS says "they're never going be competitive in the PAC 12". Just having him eat crow makes me feel great.
Not petty at all. I'd be rubbing the guys face in it. I'd be plastering his cubicle with the current PAC 12 standings.

Hey now I buy dog food from Dollar General sometimes, close to my house. All seriousness, the bowls do need tweaking.

Current projections have seven 5-7 teams in bowls and another 6-6 with two wins over 1AA. Teams like Boston College in a bowl? Absurdity

The last two months have been the hardest two months that I have ever endured, and it isn't close. The Buffs have been the lone positive distraction during this time. The wins mean a lot, but the competitive fight of this team means more. I'm proud to root for them.

I agree man I was joking around. We have 2 of those damn stores here. Aztec is pretty damn small. Too many bowls period, it waters it down.

Wasn't even 20 years ago I remember some solid 7-4 teams being left out of bowls. It's just gone way out of control. I'd like a winning record (7-5) requirement

Yep, I don't like the 6 thing either. What if you ran across someone who said what bowl you guys going to? Bro, we are going to the Weed Whacker Bowl. I wonder how they'd take that info? Lol.

I want as much football as I can possibly get. The season is over in the blink of an eye, then there is no more college ball for more than 8 months. So I'll happily watch C. Michigan play Ball St in the lawn mower bowl on some mid-December night. No one else is required to watch.

Back when I was a UVA fan first and foremost, we had a pretty good team, ranked about #20. The problem? It was 1994 and there weren't many bowl games. Reward for the season? The Poulon Weedeater Bowl in freezing rain in Shreveport (now the Independence Bowl). These sponsors are brutal. They should at least keep the name AND the sponsor. For example, Dollat General Bowl, Wtf? Hyundai Sun Bowl? That's better with the original name intact

Honest question, does your demeanor and attitude change when the Buffs win? If so, for how long? I, like many here are drinking the kool-aid this season and I can tell that I have a better attitude all around. I am very passionate about the Buffs, borderline obsessive and the agony we have lived through in the past decade has been Hell. That being said, I know for a fact I've been a nicer, happier person this football season and it's been without a doubt because of our football team. Even my wife has noticed. So how about you? And to what extent?

Side note: I'm watching the CU ASU game and the wife comes in the room and sees the Sun Devils uni's and makes that face and says "Oh my god, are they wearing the girls volleyball uniforms? Those look absolutely horrific." Thought that was a pretty solid comparison.

This. +1, my family is enjoying this season more because I have a better attitude.

I love bowl games, including lower conference teams being rewarded for good seasons. I'm just not sure 80 teams in bowls , meaning some 5-7 teams are deserving. Bowls should have some prestige, just as I don't think a 14-16 team should be getting an at-large. We're nearing a point where we might as well just include everyone if we're already at 70%

I even remember higher profile teams who had a rough year reject crappy bowls. That's been years though.

I used to be numb to the losing. It was almost automatic so it never bothered me. Now with wins my work life suffers as I am on here and other sites a lot more. The wins have gotten to me so bad that after the USC loss I went to my punching bag for over 30 minutes.

I've done a college football pool for 7 years, we draft a bunch teams at the start of the season and get credit for how they do on a weekly basis. I put a ton of work into research each year. I've won 5 of 7 years. I'm getting killed this year and I could care less.

Oh, and I also have a black mini schnauzer that is named Norah (wife wouldn't go for Ralphie) that I make run down the hall before a game and I follow while singing the Fight song. My dogs are afraid of me because of how loud I am during a game.

That's hilarious and allsome

It doesn't affect me much. We've sucked for so long I got over being pissed at losses and now I'm having a blast with winning but it doesn't change my mood. Could be getting older too...kinda mellows you out.
c'mon '68. You're too close to the Buffs for that crap ;-)

With ya, dawg... Great distraction from the bleakness of reality. They are keeping me level...

This year has rekindled the good things that come with watching the Buffs, my week goes by faster & I speak with people I haven't spoke to in years to talk football. My wife pointed out to me that even though I still yell at the TV she's not so worried anymore that I'll send a remote through it. She also pointed out that my beer consumption has gone down, I don't get tanked before the game anymore.

Here's to things getting better for you.

Sorry to be cryptic, which comes off looking like an attention whore. I choose not to share personal details because I don't know you guys (except for Waldo, in a weird twist of fate). What MM said after the Oregon game really sticks with me. Paraphrasing, but something like "God was with us when we won today, but He was also with us when we were down by 50 at halftime, He's always with us. It's our job to persevere and fight." Truth. Sports are small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but can be a welcome and comforting distraction. It's less about the wins for me, and more about how this team has won. I have been as critical as MM and Sefo as anyone, but I am very glad to eat crow. So much guts. Wish they could split the Buffalo Heart award this year. Sefo and Lindsay are both extremely deserving IMO.
