I am trying to be patient with Sefo

Disagree. He can throw the ball pretty damned well

lol he rarely hits anyone in stride and doesn't hit guys in the numbers in intermediate passes. His accuracy sucks.

Well to be fair he didn't really have any good WRs outside of spruce. No separation at all. Then no help from the TEs. Utah had that one WR who looked ridiculous across crawley. Why can't we get guys that look like that?

But he was throwing high yesterday.

What was his ypa? Percentages can be skewed with screens and check downs.

Just looked it up. 6.4 this year and 7.1 last year.
And 10.2 yards/attempt yesterday with a 64.5% completion rate.

If he can eliminate the interceptions and forced fumbles, he can quite good. Not sure about great, but definitely on the high side of good.

Yeah, we need to hit lighting in a bottle and snag a Richardson.

It would also help him if we didn't give up on the run. Or have RBs by committee when one is doing well.

I guess I just am hard on him because, well, he is the QB on a ****ty team. The only way out of the pit of despair is if he puts the team on his back ala RG3 at Baylor or Bree's at Purdue.

He isn't going to be that and it's not really fair to ask that when he's not. Those dudes are generational (at the college level anyway).

He has taken a ****load of hits and I'm surprised he hasn't gotten hurt, but the pass protection did get better as the season wore on.

The team isn't helping him. People need a face to bitch at. He's not the golden child, but outside of Wilson he's probably the 5th best quarterback in our division. That's says a lot about the strength of our division, but going from the big12 north to the pac12 south had not been kind.

Then I see Utah doing better and it leaves me flabbergasted.

People bitching about Sefo going OB 2 yards shy of a first down need to remember that he used to fight for those yards and was getting hurt. The coaches have been pretty adamant that he not take the hits. Plus he's coming off a concussion. It was second and two after that. You HAVE to get a first down on 2nd & 2. And I, too, was kind of pissed he didn't try to get the first. But after thinking about it, am less critical.

It was 3rd and 2. I agree, though, that we still have to get that first. Regardless, Sefo doesn't seem able to make a play to win a game. He can make plays to keep us in games, he can make plays to lose games. I haven't seen him make a play to win one. Obviously our defense is a huge problem. But presented with multiple opportunities to win a game in the 4th this year, Sefo couldn't do it. Here is hoping that another off season is what he needs because I don't see anyone on our depth chart next year that can challenge him.

Man. Sefo has some tools you can work with and you can't question his dedication. Turnovers are going to happen, but he seems to just give them away at the worst possible times. That has to stop next year, who ever the QB is. I have full faith in Sefo if he can make this change in 2015. If not, then we are screwed.

This is with Sefo we knew when he signed that he was supposed to be a guy who would need development. He hadn't been coached in HS in a lot of the fundamentals of playing QB at this level.

Almost anywhere else he would have still been on the bench working on learning to be a college QB, here he got thrown in on a bad team early in his true freshman year.

Yes he has 20 starts but he has never had the time to just work on the details that make a QB effective.

Would be nice if Awini made a move into the mix. Adds the run threat. Not sure of his mastery of the offense or accuracy, but he'd be the one guy I'd like to see push Sefo. Not exciting for another freshman (Apsay-RS or Montez) unless they are heads and shoulders above.

We've been running the ball very effectively. STFU if you want to argue the running back by committee being bad, you're wrong.

Awini is the most inaccurate QB I've ever seen.

Sefo is a sophomore and was in a sophomore slump. After all those critical turnovers still produced some great stats. He will clean up those "sophomore slump" mistakes and will be one of the top Qb's in our conference. He will have more push next season from Awini and Aspay which will make him better also.

He is a good QB but I was so pissed at that INT...probably the stupidest ****ing throw I've ever seen considering the fact he's had a chance to work on his clutch game all season.

IMO the problem isn't Sefo, it's some folks' expectation of him, including mine. I expected him to be able to carry the team on his back and get a win, but he isn't that type of player. If the D and ST played better, he wouldn't be put in the position to have to win it on his own. That said, I would like to see some real competition and maybe we can get a QB who is clutch.

^^This^^

I wouldn't call him "the most innacurate" but he is not a PAC12 level passer.

He is a plus athlete who can throw the ball but is only a QB in an option offense based on running the ball, not something CU is going to do.

I think he ends up as a reciever who might play some wildcat/short yardage sets but he isn't going to be close to a full-time QB.

People want sefo to be more than he is or has shown he can be (outside of a few flashes). Until he stops making terrible decisions on simple plays, he is artificially lowering his ceiling of being an above average QB. That's a pretty frustrating thing, so I get it. But until this staff recruits or develops an actual viable D1 QB behind him, that's what we got.

That's the situation. It sucks and is frustrating, but it could be worse. At least we have an offense with Sefo in there.

Not really. If Montez starts it's reasonable to say he's better than Sefo and our backup QB would be a guy who has proven he can play at this level.

Funny take. Aren't you the one saying that lack of experience and veteran leadership is what held this team back this season? We would have been good if it weren't for all these underclassmen!!!!!

I don't want Montez to start, but I don't think we'd be screwed on the basis that he is starting over a former two year starter who is a legit Pac 12 QB. If a freshman can take a upperclassmen QBs job who has performed at this level I wouldn't say we are screwed. Probably less than ideal, but we wouldn't be screwed.
