our run defense was dog crap against UA. Not probably much of an issue against WSU, but could be a serious problem against Utah. Overall, our defense wasn't very good at all. Those last two touchdowns by UA had me having flashbacks to last years game. The score masked some serious problems, particularly on defense.

Talk me off the ledge. Tell me we are going to kill WSU and Utah. Tell me that we took UA lightly and that's why we looked so bad.

Just look at WSU's last two road games against ASU and OSU. Teams that Colorado crushed. Just have to play the games.

There are weaknesses in this team...mostly from lack of consistency and focus...we haven't put a complete game together in a while. But we will come out at home on national TV with everything on the line and play fired up and focused...we will win!

Every week, a different phase of the game has risen to the challenge. Over the previous couple weeks, the defense was absolutely lights out, picking up the slack for a struggling offense. Last night, the offense was able to get its groove back a little, and was able to outpace Arizona despite the defense "struggling" a bit. It's a week to week game.

We played like dog crap and still crushed a team on the road that had our number for years. I ain't worried, put your faith in The Rise.....

It's hard to stay focused when you're up by 4 scores.

Were the backups getting reps on the D-line?

I realize we didn't play well at Arizona, but the 25 point loss is till their second worst home loss and third worst overall loss of the year, by margin. I wouldn't look at that game as a reason to be concerned.

Red zone defense was tough in the 1st half. It didn't seem like the D was quite as focused on UA's last 2 scores, but the game was over by that point. I'm very glad we have the last 2 at home.

Different teams and different matchups every week.

Arizona's got a ton of speed and their QB is a nightmare to defend outside the pocket. Defense pretty much stoned them all night after they'd given up yards and compressed things into a tighter window where that speed was mitigated by a short field.

Let's jump together.

I think it can actually be a good thing - the defense got whipped a few times and I don't think Leavitt will let them forget it. The defense has something to prove now, that this week was a mirage. A focused, angry defense coming home for 2 weeks with the Rose Bowl on the line? That's a good spot to be in.

To my eyeballs RR's spread scheme up front neutralized our power on the DL.Our weakness on defense is speed at LB. Also speedy RBs or QBs get around the edge and that's a problem. Saw it towards end of Michigan game and at USC.

Change from running to passing QB also hurt us and I think that was totally part of the RR game plan going in. He remembers that it killed us last year. I wonder if a lot of our D's success is JL's ability to game plan. Tough to plan for two distinct QB styles.

I don't see WSU or UU having the personnel or scheme to replicate any of this.

It seems as though with this team the 'hot spot' migrates around. First couple of games it was special teams, then a couple of games of offensive deficiencies, then a game of discipline problems and penalties. We've had pass rush issues in certain games, and offensive line complaints in others. Yesterday it did seem the defense was off. But it so far hasn't manifested itself in problems with multiple areas simultaneously. Part of this 'moving' problem is that the teams we play have their own strengths and weaknesses, but I suspect we're also being impacted by serious game planning and preparation by our competitors because #TheRise is no joke.

I am concerned about Washington State but not overly so. A pass rush will go along way in not hanging our DB's out to dry. We should be able to put up some points ourselves, however. Oh, and it's great to have our Price back. He didn't kick any field goals, but I sure prefer his trajectory over Graham's.

The key to the game IMO is whether we'll have pressure on Falk. If we do, we win comfortably. If not, it will be dicey to the end.

It was announced that the flu had gone through the locker room, we had a lot of guys who looked like they had it. Tupou was getting pushed around a lot, guys seemed a step slow to react. Was it the flu? Was it just a team that has been getting up week after week than mentally took a break

Our defense for the most part controlled the game. The one thing we didn't control that kept multiple drives alive and flipped the field a few times was the QB run or passes off the scramble. Both WSU and Utah have better QBs than Arizona but neither has a QB who is as elusive as we faced last night. Rich Rod's teams, even when they are bad, have always generated a lot of yardage from scrambling the QB, last night was the same.

My biggest concern for next week is if we can get people healthy. We have come a long ways in terms of being able to put P5 level athletes on the field but unfortunately we are still tissue paper thin. If we have multiple players missing or playing significantly reduced we don't have the guys to step in without giving up a lot.

JFC, it's college football. Unless you're a toothless goober from Tuscaloosa, you're lucky if your QB knows what cover 2 is and your FS wasn't doing bong rips before the game. It's like none of you watch every week when some knucklehead gets a fifteen yarder to extend a drive for some nonsensical act (looking at you, Arizona). Yes, I'm quite sure CU's defense has completely forgotten how to fill run gaps in one week.

Give it a rest, every college team is made up of really young players who will **** up almost as much as they don't. On the other hand, if the BB team ever hits below 35% from 3, it's straight to the NIT, book that ****.

If we gave it a rest, would there be anything to talk about on AllBuffs? I thought that's what we did here in this forum - worry the crap about every bit of minutia that we see or we think we see.

I started the season trying to figure out where we would get the wins for bowl eligibility. Everything is good from here on out regardless of result!
