First, credit to him for calling what was probably his best game. Great game plan and then had a nice rhythm and balance to his play calls, keeping Cal off balance and mixing things up. Spread the ball around.

With that said...

HOW THE **** DO YOU HAVE A BOTCHED PLAY ON A ****ING 4TH AND GOAL IN OT!!!!

THAT'S ****ING BUSH LEAGUE!!!

NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!!! EVER!!!

THIS IS BIG BOY FOOTBALL IN THE PAC-12, DAMNIT!!!!

I'LL GIVE YOU ONE, BUT NEVER AGAIN, BUDDY!!!

The only series I can be mad at him. He called a hell of a game today other than that.

How can he call such a good game and screw up those 4 plays. Why was there not 1 pass to #22??? How does that happen?!?!?!?!

Stole my thunder.

Just curious nik ... how many post-game threads are we going to have?

As many as it takes until Larry Scott reviews the tape and reverses the game result. :drunk:

Id be curious to have more detail about what went wrong there. Obviously Mac was fired up in the headset about some miscommunication possibly. Was it a substitution problem? Was it an on the field miscue by the players? Was it a Cal sub we didnt see?

Its not like we have an OL thats known to be loaded with NFL prospects. We weren't down there just once and we went into that play in a very predictable call. Lindgren called a helluva game. You can see the confidence improving. I cant take away his game over one call. I think we kept the game closer than many expected.

Like I said, Id be curious to hear what Mac was yelling about. The future is bright at CU.

You know as well as the rest of us, slugger, that we're seething right now. Veruca Salt (the band) will tell you it's impossible to fight that.

screw the botched play... why weren't we spreading cal out on 1st and goal. ugh.

Even if we're gonna run the ball, I think we've got a better shot at Powell or someone breaking a tackle if we move guys away from the middle.

I think our OL has proven they can't move anybody's DL off the line. I don't mind that big and tight formation, but to run it all 4 plays when they were killing us on it. why not go 5 wide even? Sefo was also our best running threat.

Agreed. They might not have got that in. Something broke down. Too bad for the players. I think the better team, only by a hair better, lost the game.

At any rate, it was nice to watch a high scoring game versus the ass poundings we used to take.

this is at least the 2nd time this season we were on the goal line and we try to power run with Lindsey

We dont have the horses up front for that yet. But these things show recruits what were capable of. We may not have put a 1 in the W column for the game but we probably did put a few W in other columns. I think some kids thinking about coming to CU that watched this game saw things they liked.

Not knowing your responsibility on a play is the players' fault, not the coach's.

Just like in the CSU game, Lindgren gave the O-line a chance to punch it in and prove they could establish an identity. It's now clear our guys simply cannot win their individual battles to go smashmouth on the goalline. Hopefully, they'll put some work in in the weight room in the offseason, and next year will be different. For the rest of this year, we need to be throwing at the goalline.

^^^^This.

That issue remains one of the festering sores from the previous two administrations. You can run the practices, educate the players, but you cant go in and play for them. They, not you, have to find IT all on their own.

I know it's not scientific evidence or anything, but at one point the TV showed a closeup of our Center's arms and I gasped out loud. Damn...I had muscles that big when I was in college (and I didn't impress anyone! Haha). It really is the line where we are overmatched. Our DB's impressed me today...the linebackers were tolerable...pass protection was better than I expected it to be most of the time...but we can't blow people off the line or open big holes for the running backs. That's a long term project there. Great CU teams had great O-Lines.

In fairness, Kelley works his ass off in the weight room and is probably the 2nd strongest guy on the team after Tupou. Might have just been a wonky camera angle you saw.

You have no idea what you're talking about with Kelley...he's a hoss. Next I'll hear Nembot looks small.

This is all a bunch of crap, I don't give a **** what a guy can do in the weight room. I know I heard McCartney quite a bit tonight. Point is, I wanna see what you can do on the field.

Seriously? Seriously?

Seriously? Seriously?

To which part? Our DB's WERE playing well...Cal's best run IMHO was the one where the RB juked three of our guys near the sideline and went for the touchdown. But I thought we looked pretty good overall (as good as the other Pac-12 teams that have faced Cal's offense). Henderson got burned once or twice, but he and Crawly did pretty well ( and it was TIGHT coverage, damn near PI at times). The D-Line, surpringly, put some pressure on Cal's QB...but they had some big plays. Overall, I was pretty happy with the effort despite the high final score. We gave up some big plays...but we were solid a lot of the time too. Baby steps.

Heck, I still have nightmares about 70-3 versus Texas...so maybe my standards are low!
