After a one year respite the University of New Mexico on Monday will officially shut down four sports
Beach volleyball and Men's Soccer aren't programs CU has so shouldn't be much if any impact although both have been suggested as potential additions and losing relatively close out of conference opponents doesn't help.
The big one is them shutting down both their men's and women's ski programs. UNM has been a long time contender for national championships and IIRC have hosted on of the larger regional meets each year along with a few national meets.
There aren't a lot of schools competing in skiing so losing one of the better ones hurts the long term viability of the sport.
If my count is correct this means that there are now only 12 teams competing as division one ski programs and a few of these either don't compete in all disciplines or are only one gender.
At what point does the NCAA say for them just to go the club sport route?
