Interesting Read from Former Buff

Football is singled out because that is where the highest number of players are and also where the most money and the most publicity is.

This disease is Closely linked to concussions. Wrestling and hockey have higher concussion rates, and probably surprisingly to most, basketball and volleyball are not far behind. Plus: for same sports, women are more susceptible to concussions than men in general.

ThIs diagnosis also currently requires death and then a brain autopsy. What we don't yet know is the preponderance of the same trauma-induced brain disease in the public at large and other risk factors.

We probably won't ever know the extent of effects on women's sports until they devise a test that can detect it in living persons. NFL provides a large number of former players with documented histories and public recognition. NHL suffers from a recognition problem and until there are big name stars that die young and are checked, the focus will always be on the NFL. There is simply not the name recognition, nor the numbers of professional/post collegiate women's VB, BB, soccer players to ever bring attention to a potential problem.

What about this dude?
