Jim MF'n Leavitt

Found this little gem last night. The guy also had Strong replacing Kiffin at SC.

Austin, Texas -- The Longhorns defense’s of past once game opposing offense’s nightmares but in recent times this hasn’t been the case, last season the unit was forced to play under two different defensive coordinators after Manny Diaz was fired and the Longhorns moved onto Greg Robinson and whilst under Robinson the team showed major improvements it still wasn't good enough for Robinson to keep his job under new head coach Chad Morris.

A few days ago Morris hired a young, inspiring offensive coordinator in Jeff Scott but today the 45-year old head coach looked more at age and knowledge when hiring Jim Leavitt as the new defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns.

As the head coach of South Florida from 1997 to 2009, Leavitt had a record of 95-57 and during that time he was heavily courted by the likes of Alabama and whilst his time at South Florida ended in controversy it didn’t stop Jim Harbaugh hiring him when he took over in San Francisco and under the likes of Vic Fangio and Jim Leavitt the 49ers have had one of the most if not the most feared defense's in the NFL and under the coaching of Jim Leavitt, Navorro Bowman has become an elite linebacker with the 49ers.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t have left the 49ers for any other job,” Leavitt said. “My passion has always been in the college game but when you are competing for Superbowl's it would have been hard to leave an organisation like the 49ers for anything less than what has been offered to me here in Texas.”

The Texas native Leavitt has agreed to a three year deal with the Longhorns to work alongside both Jeff Scott and Chad Morris.
Is Colin Anderson, like, 14 years old? He needs to take some creative writing classes. Or something.

JL is a badass. Agree with S2S...won't see a similar point change, but a similar % change would be awesome! The D was good enough to win more games last year...the O and particularly the OL sucked hog balls.

That's the thing too. Even tho our offense will play faster, they should do so at a more efficient rate. All those 3 and outs put our defense on the field a ton anyway. As long as we can convert long, sustaining scoring drives, I think our defense can improve even with the quicker pace.

FORTY-FREAKING-SIX??? I still have nightmares about watching that Fresno State game. Can't believe I watched that entire game. Seeing the team bust out a big ol can of quit, early in the first half, was demoralizing. On the plus side, we shut out Oregon in the 4th quarter. The fact that they already had 70, hardly seems relevant.

My God those 2012 numbers were awful. AVERAGE 46 pts per game given up? I get angry every time I see stats like that and think about how far Jon Embree set this program back.

Considering our Pac opponents mostly pulled their starters early in the third, it could have been far worse.

Had a popular revolt not risen - and I think it came from here - it's entirely possible that Embree would have been back in '13.

Damn straight.

It also provides some perspective on the hole MMac had. Not providing excuses...as I think we should be further along...just perspective.

I'd say it was as much an elite revolt as a popular revolt one...big time boosters had enough.
