I can't believe he's thought of this highly on this board. Let me quote the piece he put out today, talking about our playoff chances: "Colorado would need a load of help, in part because of the double digit loss to Michigan, which would likely put the Buffs behind a second team from the Big Ten."

Given Penn State got pasted by Michigan......are you serious?

He's right, although I don't agree we SHOULD need a lot of help. But we do.

Nobody can convince me we don't have a better resume than OU or Penn State.

In all truth I think we are better than Clemson...how many games have they barely won against average teams? Unfortunately for us they only have one loss.

Wilner has been nails on conference news and specifically Pac-12 network related reporting. I find that piece of his work valuable.

But he's no Ted Miller on the other stuff.

Wilner also had us higher than anyone else with his recent AP vote (ahead of Washington). He's talking reality of national perception and dominoes when he writes that we need a lot of help. He's right. For example, if the B1G goes to chalk with the favorites... Ohio State will be ranked #2 at 11-1 but the title game will be a 10-2 Wiscy vs a 10-2 PSU, both of which are currently ranked above CU. Chalk would also be Alabama and Clemson winning out.

I don't see a path to the Top 4 for CU if things break like that.

Anyone ranked below 6 in this next CFP will need help, imo.

Anyone below 8 will need major help.

So while I agree in principle that CU is better than OU or Pedo State (and I do believe that we will jump OU if we win the conference), it's not crazy to say that we need a lot of help. In fact, it's probably correct.

On that note, it wouldn't surprise me if CU jumped PSU or OU this Tuesday.

Say we go with chalk in the Big Ten. Ohio State beats Michigan and goes 11-1. Pedo State and Wisconsin play for the title, and say Wisconsin wins. Wisconsin's losses are at Michigan and a close game at home to Ohio State. Very comparable to ours, they beat LSU in OOC, and the committee favors the Big Ten. They're in.

Alabama will win out, they're in.

Clemson is most likely going to win out.

That's 4.

If we win out, I think the best we can hope for is #5, and that's assuming we would jump OU. I think we will, but others probably disagree.

It's possible, especially PSU. Considering the final score of the OU-WVU game, I'm not so sure about that one, even if it said more about WVU than OU, imo.

I would be shocked if jumped OU. They blew out a ranked opponent on the road in one of the few ranked matchups of the week (CU being the other).

I may be in the minority but I don't think you should be eligible for the playoff if you don't even win your own division in your conference. Don't care what the circumstances are...you shouldn't get a "bye" from the conference championship straight into the playoff.

I think we also would have to consider what we would actually rather have happen.

The best we can do, no matter what, is the 4 seed - time is probably running out on any kind of chaos that would elevate us higher.

Alabama will be the number one seed.

So - would you rather play Alabama in Atlanta, or Ohio State, Michigan or Wisconsin in Pasadena?

One is way away from our alumni base and recruiting base against a team that, in all honesty, is probably going to roll to the title.

The other is right in the middle of our recruiting base, well inside our alumni base, at a much more easily traveled to location, against a team that we will most likely be able to compete with if not beat straight up.

I think the choice is obvious, regardless of the prestige of getting to the CFP.

I agree, at which point what we should really have is an 8-team playoff, where each conference champion gets an automatic bid, and then some at-large bids are added

Alabama in Atlanta.

We might get demolished, but there are so few chances to win a National Championship, that I would relish the chance, even if the odds of winning were astronomical.

Another interesting scenario that could CU-esque is Florida. They currently are at 23 in the CFP with 2 losses (Tennessee and Arkansas) and if they win out, that means they beat FSU and Bama, that would likely launch them up into the territory we'll be around. Hopefully they just crumble and don't become more of a Cinderella story than us.

Yep. Can't pass up a chance to be in the playoff. Very hard to finish top 4, gotta do it while you can.

Bama is obviously a ridiculously tough matchup, but you never know. I'd want to be in the playoff.

Not being flippant, but the answer is the same: 1-0. We're not going to stop knocking them down until you stop setting them up.

You can't justify having OU ahead of the Buffs given that Ohio State destroyed them in Norman and they lost at Houston. Our two losses were on the road when we could have won both games. CU should be ahead of OU.

Careful, people can get brutalized around here for asking to play in a lower tier game that they might stand a better chance in.

Just sayin . . .

He's right, and also I think he put CU at Number 6 in the nation in his ballot this week. So.....yeah, I think highly of him.
