Lincoln Riley had loads of gravitas because he was the hand-picked chosen one at a blue blood program. OU’s history and budget made it possible for him to hire badass assistants. We don’t have much of either here.

You have to believe Fickell is seeing what they are paying Tucker and wondering if he made a huge mistake. No way that deal was originally offered to Fickell or he’d be their coach right now, but he’s probably asking his agent WTF bro??

No. Fickell knows MSU is run by morons right now and in a pickle with lawsuits and sanctions maybe coming down the pike. Also, their division is rough

Edit: $18,250,000 is the actual number. $33mm over 6 years compared to $14.75mm over 5 years. Clown college for buffs14 - definitely not a graduate of Colorado.

You’re obviously not good enough to be recruited. You’re someone who just does middling work hoping not to get fired. Mel Tucker is getting over $18 million more than what he was going to get at Colorado. That is not an amount of money any rational person would decline. You’re obviously one of the irrational ones.

I honestly don’t know if Coach Chev has what it takes to be a head coach at a major program but there is no slam dunk hire (Urban Meyer isn’t coming through that door).

But not a lot of people loved the Ogeron hire at LSU, in fact some ESPN talking heads called him the worst hire the year he was hired and wasn’t head coach material. That worked out okay for LSU.

And it worked largely because they recruited well and he hired good assistants.

Again, not predicting that but just because someone doesn’t come in with national media fanfare doesn’t mean they won’t eventually be successful.
