Ladies and gentlemen, the Prime effect

Was listening to the College GameDay podcast from Monday and Pete Thamel was saying how we flew home from Boulder on Saturday sometime in the afternoon or evening. He lives outside of Boston, which is essentially a college football abyss, and on Sunday morning he took his kid(s) to the park and he overheard some moms talking about the CU-CSU game, which needless to say was astounding in that part of the country.

I was just thinking how lucky I was to get season tickets. I and my son have 4 seats in Section 217. They cost a couple of grand, total. I’ll bet if I’d sold each ticket for each game I could’ve gotten in the $5,000 range. That’s super whack!

I wonder what they will cost next year?

More than this year’s…

Based on CUs adoption of surge pricing strategies with single game tickets, I’d expect they will use similar analytics to optimize pricing going forward based on demand. In other words, prices will hike significantly and many existing season ticket holders will have very different calculus ahead. I’d expect a fair amount of dropouts to occur to make room for the bigger spenders. If there’s not significant dropouts, CU is leaving $$ on the table which is not going to work in Prime Times.

We’re swimming with the big boys now.

This is why I favor stadium expansion. I'm not loving it if we price out students who were unable to get selected among the 15k student lottery. Or price out less wealthy fans. Or price out families. College football, imo, should be more accessible to fans than NFL. This year it hasn't been for anyone who didn't get selected to be able to buy season tickets.

We at least need some lower priced ticket sections to keep CU games accessible. I think the only way to get there is with an upper deck on the west side.

GameDay at Notre Dame. And, of course, they asked Marcus Freeman about Deion Sanders. 😂

He was really cool and seemed to embrace the question. Said it's great for the sport, was complimentary, and said the message to kids is to be authentic to be successful.

I hadn't seen Freeman interviewed before, but he's now got a supporter in me.

Completely agree with your first paragraph. The 2nd I kind of agree with 2nd but I just hope if and when they redo the west side that they can preserve Balch in some fashion. No doubt that building needs upgrades but it'd be great if they can at least find a way to keep the basic structure. I've seen a rendering on here that someone did that appeared to do a pretty good job of that.

Except the ND fans booed when they brought up CU

Don't be a dick
I’m not. If you’re “not looking forward to renewing” your season tix, then this is the perfect opportunity to stop. The AD is in position to use this season as a springboard for additional fundraising thereby creating long term stability for the football program and the rest of the department.

I was listening to sports talk while driving last night (not sure who) and they brought up that other programs will try to copy the Coach Prime model with their next hire. The one guy kind of laughed and said that this is like trying to copy the Nuggets model to win a championship. Paraphrasing, "Yeah. All you have to do is find Nikola Jokic in the 2nd round." Spot on. Unicorns.

We're interpreting the comment differently. I understand what you're saying

Still bringing celebrities.

The stars will be out for Colorado's next home game against 5th-ranked USC. A deep list of notables expected to be in attendance on Saturday includes LeBron James, Jay Z, Matthew McConaughey, and the return of Lil Wayne, a source told BuffsBeat.
But Lanning said the Cinderella story is over…guess he forgot that Cinderella wins in the long run
