Corso's final broadcast will be Aug. 30, ESPN announced, saying additional programming to celebrate Corso is planned in the days leading up to that weekend.

What an amazing run with so many fun moments over the decades with Gameday. Absolute celebration of college football that significantly raised the profile of the sport and gave fans a launch point for our CFB Saturdays. It's time, probably past time, but I'm so thankful for Corso and look forward to celebrating him this year.

It's definitely time for him, sucks, but that's life. Dude can hardly even talk anymore. I hope I never have a damn stroke, pretty sure he did.

It had been going down the same path which saw MNF deteriorate. A show like that needs characters. It's got to be fun. It's a party you want to be at, not a corporate event.
This is why Madden was the best color guy ever for MNF. He had a lot of fun, but also he put it in a ton of time and effort preparing for that game every week.

Hated him as a Raiders coach (still love TJ screaming at him "it's all over fat man!" after a pick), but he really revolutionized football broadcasting by actually explaining the game to the viewers. But to do that, he needed to understand what the coaches were doing, so he would interview them, go to practices during the week, etc, etc. At first, they were reluctant to share, but by never once tipping off the other team about a plan or strategy, he won them over - he also was the coaches greatest PR agent as he would spend time on national tv talking about the brilliance of their strategy, game plan, etc.

And, he was hilarious in the booth.

Plus you’ve got a respect a guy willing to do that job without flying. That’s a lot of time on a bus.
