Here are, in my opinion, the best five off-season hires:1. Mike MacIntyre (Colorado). You can't put into words how great a job MacIntyre did at San Jose State. They were talking about shutting the program down less than a decade ago. MacIntyre got there and pulled a mini miracle. He takes over a Colorado program that is rich in tradition but woefully inept after the tenures of Dan Hawkins and Jon Embree.If MacIntyre can't make Colorado relevant again, maybe it's time to invest more resources into the ski team.​

I liked the Embree hire and hated the Hawk hire. I'll reserve judgment till at least 9/2.

No. You asserted that this lists don't matter because Dan Hawkins was considered a good hire and he spun out big time here. I asserted that these lists are reasonably accurate in their grades and that one example (Hawkins) does not indicate any kind of trend or inaccuracies, just outside examples and followed that up by using Embree as a example (would have added more but I'm on my phone) who received a bad grade and was awful here.

So you think Embree earned a D+? I'm thinking he was well into F- territory given my understanding of Academia, thus two bad predictions. These lists are typically accurate? Which ones? There are probably 100 different lists from 100 different sources every year and they are all over the place. I'm not going to do the research but I can pretty much guarantee you that each year almost every coach got a "good" grade from one of the Good Coaching Hire lists.

We were. I was just explaining my process. There are posts of mine on here defending Hawk and I was trying to preemptively answer that if anyone even remembers my stance on hawk.

I might have even defended Embree a time or two.

How is your assertion that the lists are accurate based on one example any better than buffedup's assertion that they are not accurate based on one example?

I was certainly excited about Foodcart b/c he was a "splashy" hire. But in retrospect, I am quite happy we got HCMM. As many others have said, HCMM has proven capable of doing a massive turnaround, whereas Foodcart has a tendency of succeeding by following success from a prior HC. Big difference.

If he finishes at the bottom of the SEC East (likely) and loses to Alabama/Florida (likely), things will turn sour.

Won't be breaking through in SEC anytime soon, IMO. Tennessee has their disadvantages sitting in a state with little talent compared to their neighbors, and there's only so many legacy commits out there.

As for us, his lack of rebuilding experience wouldn't have been an ideal fit.
