If CU was winning, this would not be brought up. Just as with the Hawkins. We'll never know.

 I don't ever remember this coming up during the 2007 season when Cody was the quarterback and CU was going to a bowl game. Once he started losing, then the nepotism discussion started (rightfully so). Other colleges are not negatively recruiting, due to a coaches son, who has never played a down and is slated as a slot receiver. If they are, then I highly, highly doubt it has much effect.A lot of concerns expressed on this board wouldn't be brought up as much if we were winning, but we're not so what's your point?

Didn't seem to matter with Ricky's son a UCLA. If we are really that worried about other School's negatively recruiting CU, due to the coaches son playing slot receiver, then we have a ton more issues with the program. Just a stupid discussion to have at this point, IMO.
When we prove we can recruit talented WRs with Jay on the team, then I'll believe it has no impact. The results in the year and a half since he signed with CU have been laughable.
You don't think there was criticism at UCLA over Ricky's son? Still, just because you made it home safe that one time you weren't wearing a seatbelt doesn't mean it was a good idea.

If a school is depending on Jay to down play CU...they've got ****ty salesmen if that's an issue they're gonna recruit against

Does Shay Fields count?
The crux of your argument is a clear spurious relationship. We are struggling to recruit blue chip players at all positions, yet you wrongly point to the cause being Jay MacIntyre and focus solely on WRs. This is just terrible logic to build your argument on.
Does Shay Fields count?.
Ah yes, the "we're such a dumpster fire this should hardly make a difference" excuse - good call.
Jay signed at the 11th hour, after we had already landed Fields, so no he doesn't count.
Jay is not the sole reason we are struggling to recruit, but we have enough working against us already and have zero margin for error. This is a handicap, no matter how small, that we just don't need IMO.
I do agree we need to recruit better at the WR position. I think Jay Mac being on the team has zero, to little affect on this issue. I just think this debate is pointless at this point in time. It may turn out to be an issue, but way to early to tell. We've seen a small sample of what good recruiters can do on the recruiting trail, so far this year. That has a bigger affect on recruiting, than a second string slot receiver, who happens to be related to the head coach. When we prove we can recruit talented WRs with Jay on the team, then I'll believe it has no impact. Watch him turn out to be a complete stud!I love all the negative opinions about Jay Mac and whether we should have recruited him or not and no one has seen him play.

You're both seeking studs? We've found common ground.

You see a problem with that? You're both seeking studs?
Look no further! You see a problem with that?
That's called a Prince Alberto.I found a burrito stud:

What we kind of lose sight of is that Jay Mac was the 8th rated signee by Rivals out of a class of 21 guys. Completely legitimate signee who is likely to be productive as a RS-freshman. If we weren't all still suffering from PHSD (Post Hawkins Stress Disorder), we wouldn't have made much of this signing other than it being a good sign that HCMM is committed to staying here long-term.
Find a recruit that we lost to JMac being on the team. Your argument is empty.
I mean, we could have saved the scholarship to a year that we don't have many, like this year.
Nik, I'm curious how much this had to do with him being Mac's son. I've seen time and time again, players with famous/important dads getting overrated on the recruiting sites. Jack Elway, Del Rio, P-diddy, etc...
