I think a bunch of these stories are clickbait. A ton has been going on down there (i.e. the documentary cancelled) and the scores are not pretty, however I think this is just aspiring media creating a firestorm. The media needs to be relevant I guess and the talking heads need to talk!

I tend to believe this article. This season is a "rebuild." The donors, administration, alumni, NC fans and players should know that. They turned over the entire coaching staff and football administration department. Per On3, NC's 1st HS recruiting class under BB was 18th ranked with 36 players. UNC's transfer portal rank was #8, but the players are very young (Frosh/Soph) compared to Prime's 1st season. Between the On3 portal/Wiki, they had 41-50 transfers out, and brought in about 42-46 portals. Add in the graduates, retirements, and players whose eligibility expired, they have 78 new players on the roster. I think it is about a 75% new roster, and very young. I perused Punt & Rally Depth Chart and they are playing a bunch of young players, except on Oline, TE, and Secondary, but some of those are transfers too. QB, RB and Receivers all very young. Playing a ton of young guys on D too.
The scores are not pretty, but given the manner of BB's hiring, this was envisioned this to be a 3-5 year process. They hired BB based on his 100+ page plan/manifesto with a ton of stuff to implement, which meant a huge investment/commitment from UNC, donors etc... along with time to accomplish that. I doubt UNC would want to back out on this investment, 5-6 games into the season.
Last year, UNC went 3-7 over their last 10, with victories over UVA, Wake Forest and FSU, none of whom made bowls. In fact those teams only combined for 10 wins total last year, 6 in conference. The only way I see BB leaving is if BB wants out, and I'll believe that when he makes the announcement. He always holds his cards close to the vest.

Meh, UNC is a basketball, soccer, baseball and a few other sports school. Football isn't one of them. LT, Saturday, Bly, and others aren't coming through the door. Even heard parents bitching about BB, think he can still coach, but this era, Idk?

I'm not a BB fan by any means, but BB is probably this weeks media babble swarm, as the media needs something that they can get clicks and be relevant. Who is that Sean Keeler guy from the Denver Post? I saw this story this morning, however this is a rather minor situation being blown out of proportion. Defensive analyst (not even an AC) screwed up by giving sideline passes to a player's family (not a recruit). UNC did the right thing by suspending and investigating. It is noted the screw up held roles at UW, CU, Zona and of course USC, as anyone can get a sideline pass there. Despite spying and De-Flategate are where BB had some culpability, but I don't think he has any here. USC's sideline scene used to be ridiculus during the Pete Carroll era.
If you thing about it this might be fall out related to UNC/Hulu documentary falling apart, since the media needs to pin prick something especially those reporters/media involved in the documentary (i.e. the people with jobs lost due to this shut-down production). Something like this is probably their petty kick out the door.
I can see the having family regularly on the sideline (i.e. USC basketball, giving a father like LaVar Ball sideline perks) is an impermissible benefit, but it seems many CBF teams have all sorts of ex-players, NFL lumenaries, stars and others on the sideline from time-to-time. Are you telling me that Archie, Peyton, or Eli Manning can't be on the sideline for one of Arch's games?
When the reason given to the public doesn't pass the sniff test, 100% there's something else going on. Potentially a larger scandal that they're trying to scapegoat a guy for and this allows them to say they cut ties with that bad apple at the first proof of impropriety. Michigan did the same thing to some people. So did ASU. But it was always Harbaugh and Herm behind everything just as Belichick is fully responsible for whatever we'll learn has been going on at UNC.
This whole thing is an embarrassment for UNC and that doesn't sit well at all for a school that thinks very highly of themselves. Add in the ineptitude on the field and it'll be a minor miracle if Belichick is coaching UNC beyond this year.
Pretty decent odds he doesn't make the end of the season.
Focus right now for them is trying to either find cause to fire him without paying the $50 million or get him to resign. The amount and type of dirt they can come up with will influence his willingness to negotiate a resignation and what the final number will be.
Keep in mind that this is a guy who had no issue with seeking every advantage, legal or not, in the NFL. He tried to blame spygate on the video assistant, inflategate on a team trainer, other violations of concussion rules on the medical staff, violations in allowable time and hitting in practice on others, and on and on.
If they dig deep enough I have no question they will find a fireable offense. At that point though if they fire him the school is still responsible for the violations and the punishment that comes down. They would much rather simply announce that they and the coach have "mutually agreed to part ways."

It’s a violation, yeah, but I don’t view it as “major” unless there are more shenanigans on top of this incident.
