Obsession? Interesting. The Buffs appear to be the obsession on AllBuffs.

Duh. :p

I'm not sure what point you were making, though. I don't think we should ascribe motivations and read things into what MacIntyre says (or think we can hear a tone from a printed quote) instead of reading them at face value. So, he made some candid observations. They're not fun to hear and it is hard to accept just how bad things were at CU at all levels of the organization. To go from where CU was to what it became in such a short period of time, it had to be -- by far -- the worst run organization in D1 athletics. That's a hard fact. It is what MacIntyre inherited. Acknowledging this and that it was worse than he thought, well, that can be both true and self-serving. And maybe he does need to remind us, because it seems like the national perception is that he's doing a heck of a job here while CU fans seem much less forgiving of any mis-steps and much more impatient. That's understandable since we have a different perspective, but maybe we should step back a bit and look at the objective perspective from non-fans.

You guys in The Junta are always throwing us members under the bus. Why not step up and take responsibility for being a bad, um, junta person?

Can't recall the exact interviews, but HCMM has said this, or statements like it, on more than one occasion. That being said, I don't particularly buy the narrative that MacIntyre is some Hawkins reboot; very different guys fundamentally imo.

Yes he has. But the narrative isn't that MacIntyre is a Hawkins reboot, just that he starting to say some of the same things publically now that he is under preassure to win as Hawkins did. Hearing the same themes as Hawkins used is grating, but doesn't mean MacIntyre = Hawkins. Hawkins recruted better talent but I belive MacIntyre to be the better coach.

Players don't pay attention to that coach speak ****. They might act like they do but really don't. I'd just wait for the coaches to leave in my day because we broke ourselves out. It was short and to the point, I'd be like y'all know what the **** we are here for. Let's kick their ass and go home, we'll have fun this weekend. Play together and have each other's back. They got way more from that than some Vince Lombardi speech.

Where does everyone sit with their support of Mac?

Personally I'm 100% behind him (minus the occasional smart ass comment when presented). I will be until we're not bowl eligible this season.

If we lose to CSU because they play the game of their lives (again) and we don't **** the bed, I will still be behind him. If we come out unprepared I'll start to lose the faith it will ever happen and support will fade some, but still be behind him.

Basically if we hit the point of not being bowl eligible I will feel like I did towards the end of year 3 of Hawk or after the Sac State game with Embree (that's where they lost me 100%).

If we make a bowl I will be behind giving him an extension, 6 or 7 games a couple years world be warranted, 8 or 9 games 3 years and 10 wins (no excuses!) back the brinks truck up to him.

Seems like MacIntyre is a good man who runs the program in a way that we can respect or even admire.

Given that, I'd like nothing more than to see him be very successful at CU. Actually, I should rephrase that. I want to win and I'm pretty much a soulless bastard in that regard. If we had a coach that Satan himself thought was over the line, I'd still want to see him be very successful at CU. The difference, I guess, is that I'd be happier if a guy like HCMM could pull it off and I'd be cool with him staying long-term to become sort of an institution here.

I hope all that happens with him. Genuinely. But if he doesn't win, I'll be the first to admit that nothing about graduation rates, GPAs, community service or any of the other stuff about molding upstanding young men will mean enough to me to get in the way of me calling for MacIntyre's head.

And I do think the team will be improved this season. I'm going to rah-rah and get excited because that's fun for me as a fan, but in reality I'm in "show me" mode. I need to see a significant jump and a corner turned, not just that a team dominated by upperclassmen was incrementally better than the 2015 squad which won only 1 Pac-12 game.

I have my doubts about him but I am still behind him because I also see positives.

Pluses: He's shaken up the staff on both sides of the ball now due to underperformance and he was all class in how he handled it. When he did the defense they looked better. Hoping the offense does the same this year. Recruiting improved on defense under Leavitt and has increased on Offense under the new guys there. The future is rosy. Shows a willingness to make changes and adapt.

Minuses: He stumbled out of the gate by keeping the G5 staff instead of hiring a P5 staff from scratch. Recruiting was lack luster to put it nicely as a result. The team looked better coached but had a low ceiling and couldnt get over the hump. Shows an inability to recognize the situation. No one should forget that he was handed the job of refloating a sunken battleship on the ocean floor.

Summary: I believe he can improve the program and get us back to winning because he has attempted to fix areas of weakness on his staff. I think he might be 7 wins a season good. Im not sure he's 10 wins a season good. He appears to be a class act and a positive role model for young men that values academics and doesn't like bad press. He's the right guy for right now.

Ive said it and Niks said it; he might be the guy before the guy.

Is there a better guy out there somewhere? Probably. But thats proven very hard to identify and land for CU. And I dont like those odds. So, Im in the keep him camp.

I support him but he's gotta start winning games period. He does seem like a genuinely good guy so that would make it even better. It's a bottom line business and he's flirting with the other side of that.

I hope he is the guy. He has put his heart and soul into it and is a class act.

If he isn't the guy whoever follows him is going to find a much better situation than M2 found after Embree. The talent level has changed, the attitude has changed, the image of the program has started to change.

When JE was fired with the condition the program was in I don't think we could have gotten a better option than M2. If M2 is fired we should have a much better pool of candidates to pick from. We won't be seen as a bottomless pit.

He has to "win" -- don't know the exact metric -- this year to win in future years. The verbal commits quality for '17 is outstanding, but if we don't "win", then there will be de-commitments. Be tough to recover or build from.

Yr1: lose by a lot
Yr2: lose by a little
Yr3: supposed to win by a little, but repeat yr2
Yr4: ???. WTTF.

Another repeat of Y2 results would not be a good look. MM was hired as a turnaround artist. There's been an unacceptable level of turnaround thus far. Let's see that "win by a little" or "win by a lot" season this year. Anything short of that equals disappointment.

MM needs a few signature wins and/or a winning season to justify his largest paycheck amongst state employees.

There's nothing I'd like more than for MacIntyre and the '16 Buffs to fulfill their destiny as a team on the rise. A bowl game is way past due.

It's not the hopes of anyone on this board during koolaid time that matters, though. This is the year MM and his athletes claim scoreboard and deliver a season that actually exceeds expectations. It's time for uncommon to represent winning.

If we were in the ACC like MM's beloved Duke example (and GT experience), CU would have been in the top 4 or five teams and gone to a bowl last year. This year we would probably be leading the peloton that's gaped only by Clemson and FSU. I think that's where MM's goals came from.

Instead we had to transition away from being a Big12 team within the hardest conference for a program like to CU to rebuild and transform (yes...harder then SEC). Within the PAC12 you see alpha examples of every kind of offense and defense and you can't focus on building something really basic from week to week. This is a bigger problem than people appreciate.

MM has great soft skills and can really find and coach up overlooked guys. I can see were he got reputation as a program builder. But, IMHO, he doesn't have the management nor the XO ability to be HC of an overdog program. It's possible that he adapts and learns... best place to learn is as a head coach....but have only seen a little evidence of adaptation.

Really think MM has done a good job, but I'm coming over to Nik's position that he may be the guy before the guy if we want a dominant program within this conference. If he has to go after this year I would hope buff history recognizes all that he has done.

And their motto this year highlights this thought. WTTF -- I'm assuming this means Welcome To The Future. But it's actually a Travesty of a season from What The F**k.
