Q: "What are you thoughts on the 2 and 1 start to the season?"
A: "Well, there's always going to be a little of "Well, we really road-graded Hawai'i" or "We were down 31-0 at the half at Cal" but you try to look at the whole thing and say "Hey we're 2 and 1." When you have alot of young guys playing and no one coaching them, you know you're never too far from having the opportunity to win a football game, but you also are never far away from getting gashed a little. Then you look around after four plus years and say "Has it been 2 games in a row or 3 where our first play was a penalty?" So there's always going to be some of those variations."
Q: "How did you cope with CU's 52-7 loss to Cal?"
A: "I think you kind of look around and say "Am I numb because this has happened alot before?" or "Is it the 10 beers I had?" I think you can look at the entirety of the game and see about 10 drinks that, if you hadn't have had, you wouldn't necessarily be numb after the game. So you try and work out some things and eventually you go, "****, we just got ****ing killed again, how has the program fallen so far?" and there's that side too, so maybe you have some more beverages right there, maybe you mix them up."
Q: "But you are optimistic about the Buffs chances against Georgia?"
A: "Well, and you know what? That's awesome. You look around and you go, "Georgia is going through alot of the same fire right now that we have. You look at their games, and they can't get on track right now, you know, they have a penalty here, then they have a turnover there, but they're really close to figuring it out. So you hope that maybe you get a play here or a play there and have some fun and maybe win the game."
Q: "Is your wife supportive of you during CU games?"
A: "Well, she would never say anything bad, but I know she'll be nervous during the game because she'll be hosting a dinner party because that's when she scheduled the deal without talking to me. But you try to watch maybe the start of the game, pause the DVR and try to engage the party guests a little. You get in there and you start to watch the whole party unfold and you see things start to go a little, and you go "****" the game is going on right now and you sneak away and press play on the DVR. The thing is pretty cool because you don't have to watch the game live, you can watch it later if that's what your deal is. Then your wife comes in and goes, "You're watching the ****ing game?" and then you have to look at the game from kind of a multi-angle position the rest of the party."
