New video boards at Folsom

This is good stuff. Can't wait. The article mentions nothing of the sound system being upgraded which I hope is also being considered. Both the CEC and Folsom need better sound systems as well as video.

The control room being mentioned will be located in the new practice facility. :)

I know i'm in the minority here but I think this is a bad investment. Who cares about video boards when there's a live game happening on the field? This isn't like the CEC were they didn't even have video boards until last year, Folsom does have some, they suck but they're still there. And they hardly ever use them anyways except for showing the occasional replay. If these were cheap that would be one thing but $7 million could have been spent in better ways then this such as enlarging the amount of cash Bohn had at his disposal during the coaching search last year. The priority should be improving the product on the field, not the confines under which that product is viewed.

Holy ****dick you are a massive twatwaffle.

Dumbass.

You can't give that $ to the athletes, and up to date boards will only help with recruiting, thus improving the product on the field.

How many jrk accounts do you have?

I care about video boards when they make us look bush league to fans and recruits who are used to seeing big boy football.

I'm not saying we need to match the Dallas Cowboys or even the Denver Broncos, but we can't have anything that's an embarrassment.

Good move by Bohn. Long overdue.

We need video boards, but 7 million? Are you ****ing kidding me? I bet the junta is pissed.

You know things.... You know important things.... You know about the practice facility

Members of Allbuffs, whats the stance on waterboarding?

Only CU fans would find a way to complain about this move.

As Nik said, it is long overdue and will make Folsom look like a real live college stadium.

Screen is 2.5Times larger, for twice the cost. Adjusting for inflation we got a ****ing steal.

Or the old ones sound like a massive ripoff.

Nobody ever buys a smaller tv to replace an old one. It's good to see that our AD is no different.

So would you rather have something that looked sick like this (hate to link a Uterus item but that thing is impressive):

or something with black squares and green lines running through it? Recruits will be impressed with that.

Agreed, Plus a screeen that size is a tactical advantage. Imagine a Runner on his way to the endzone just has to quickly glance up, and he can immediately see where the defender is behind him.

The current board uses 40% of the available space, the new board will use 100% of that space. 250% increase
Current Board cost 3.6 Million. New board cost 7 million which is roughly twice the price.

When did we buy the old tvs and how much was a 32 inch lcd then?

That 7 million is not just for the boards themselves. Provided the boards are expensive as hell this is also money for a the long overdo control room. The truck they currently use outside of Folsom in the North-West corner for games is highly outdated for a video production studio. They use it for video production for all CU events not just football. It's like old VCR technology in there when the rest of the world is using Blu-Ray.

This will dramatically help to improve the atmosphere and replays at Folsom field. So stoked.

7 million is a small investment to make a very important visual upgrade to visitors and recruits. 7 Million could be a first step in improving the product on the field. Especially if a practice facility follows.

I thought I had him on ignore too.

Sorry Dude, let me clarify. The control room will be located in the new basketball/volleyball practice facility. I'm assuming you thought I meant football practice facility.

...boards are 13 years old, they had a 10 year maximum life. So we got our money's worth. New ones are projected to last 12 years

Beyond that, the company we bought them from isn't around any more so getting maintenance done was difficult.

Aren't all the Pac 12 schools pretty much being "directed" by the conference to make significant improvements in their production facilities to support the Pac 12 channel?
