Nov. 2nd, 7pm P12N - Colorado @ UCLA GAME THREAD

This half a loaf TuckerNuts going for FGs with a kicker that has the yips is beyond belief. I'm already over him. Next.
It won't get any easier next season with less talent and a tougher schedule. Next.
The only thing that may save him from a year 2 firing like Embree are some recruiting miracles on Defense and some AC coaching upgrades. I'm skeptical. Next.
Wow, I doubt RG anticipated this dismal faling. Next season setting up to be a disaster too. Next.

5-7 starting to look good, yes?

Montez can't handle a P5 conference, arguably the weakest one, outside of the ACC. Watch him to go the NFL and turn into Montana, that won't happen, but it would be a CU level event if it did.

This pisses me off. Viska is regarded as our best player. He gets hurt and sits, with no word from the coaches or trainers for 2 weeks. Last week he plays and during practice says he's 'near 100%'. No apparrent problems yesterday, but no explanation as the why we don't use our best weapon. I like MT, but not how he is handling this

I was hammered in Jacksonville, can someone give me a paragraph or two synopsis of the game?

So what was the main issue with the O? I saw the interception he threw in the highlights but nothing else.
Dropped passes
Pressure
Inconsistent throws
Uneven running game
Penalties
Viska mystery
OL tooled
No snap
Culture
Fontenot out

Cocktail good?

It was a blast other than the outcome. What happened to Fontenot and viska?

Montez was awful.

Fontenot injured and Viska on a pitch count? No one knows. He was on the sideline for no apparent reason and then would play one snap and out the rest of the drive. Quite odd.

I'm surprised more aren't talking about it. Are we mishandling a once in a decade type talent? I'd say so

Fontenot is in concussion protocol. Trujillo has hurt knee.

Not sure about Viska thing. Limited snaps. On bike one series. On sideline for numerous serious. Then hustled in for one guest wildcat experience. Played periodically and sporadically. Even saw mop up time. Mystery.

Postgame radio MT said “I know what it takes to turn this around.” I assume he means long term. Maybe he does. Maybe knowing what it takes doesn’t mean it’s possible. No reason to throw out a year-one head coach, but it does seem this year should have been better. If the next 3 games are fail (meaning Stanford since the other 2 are a given), it’s going to be hard to think anything will improve, and a positive mindset about the future is key to successful recruiting. We’ll see.

I've seen improvement from last year as far as giving the players chances to win. It comes down to what I mentioned in another thread, the players aren't making a lot of the plays when they are there for the taking. We also have a guy that is a first time college head coach that on occasion is going to zig when he should have zagged. Experience will fix those things.

When Abrams went out for a play, do we know who came in? Had to be either a walk-on or Dylan Thomas.

Abrams
Blackmon (surgery)
Miller (surgery)
TJ Trujillo (out) True Frosh
Luckett (True Frosh)
Thomas (RS Frosh)
Oats (True Frosh)

What is the deal with Trujillo? game to game?

I will say that opposing teams are not exploiting Trujillo/Luckett like I thought they would. Both look capable, but green.

Montez was awful. Many plays where he doesn't see the field. Many plays where he backs out of the pocket, right into where the OT is riding the outside rush, rather than step up. MUST STEP UP, allows you to see the field, gives him the opportunity to run for yards. When he reverts to his "fade out", he is running for the sideline, which is a Defensive Coordinator's dream.

UCLA has done a good job on the defensive side. They've gotten steadily better and they have one of the better defensive fronts.
Offensively, they are near top of the conference in running the ball.

I only wish that we were taking our lumps with our first-year QB of the future rather than the guy who's not improved in 4 years. Tucker could take his "rebuild" lumps this year, but now it's going to be next year.

Thomas. Two WRs at corners.

Reminds of D2 and "We've just gotta fix the little things." JFC.

I still believe Tucker is the guy but the level of play is still inexcusable, we look unprepared. I’ll continue to support him and the team but you only get so many free passes. I’m looking forward to seeing if this team grows in year 2, if we look this bad again we’re in real trouble.

UCLA is not as bad as their record indicates.
Their first 3 opponents are a combined 21-3. They won on the road in Pullman and Palo Alto.
We still should have been able to score more, but we were a little overconfident going into this one.
UCLA is a mediocre football team.

I do too, but I need multiple AC changes to be feeling good about 2020.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’ll see none of that. I don’t think Tucker is someone quick to act, I’m sure he will have some conversations about next year needing results. But, this season is difficult to judge anything, everything looks like ****. It would be a little unfair to judge all the coaches on this season with all the attrition and injuries. Now don’t mistake that last comment and think I don’t have serious rage about the lack of OL discipline, the abysmal play calling and the sheer lack of preparedness with the defense. Scheme, players, talent, injuries...I don’t give a **** what the excuse is, we can’t look like this next year. We’re a middle of the road team playing like a team with zero talent. I believe Tucker gives this group one more go around (unless some curiously “leave”) to right this ship. I have hope for the future because I think we have good talent in our freshman-junior classes. If we look like **** again, good lord, we have nothing to do but question the coaches at that point. When you lose to Arizona and they get smoked by OSU you have to question some things. Less talented teams win every week, I don’t think that’s our biggest issue.

OMG
Stupid talk
$150 million dollar facility
One of the greatest stadiums in the country
Tradition
Growing population
Metro area with lots to do nearby

I’m sold...does the NCAA allow grad students to play that will be 40 once fall camp starts? I would definitely need some scholarship money that would be sufficient enough to care for a family living in Boulder...

Welp. I’ve slid back into complete apathy again. Had a family get together last night. Got home by 10:30. Hadn’t been checking the score because I knew it was a loss.
Finally saw the score and just shrugged and was happy I didn’t waste my time and emotional energy.
