Basically we have been friendzoned until further notice.

Based on that article and earlier 247 reporting, I think they are hashing out non-monetary details in the contract - like facilities dates, admin support, etc.

Reed also thinks the player meeting is at 1:00 PM MST - how random is that? Bet we know pretty soon after that

So basically we have an announcement of a time at which there may be another announcement, although we may have to wait past the time of that announcement to find out when or if there will actually be an announcement.

If this isn't the guy for our program, I can't imagine who is... :lol:

my guess is that a big stcking point is BJ's start date - he wants to coach the bowl game a la Hawkins; CU wants him in the office now. But the longer this goes, BJ wins because while there is a lot he can do at CU between now and Jan 1, the most important part of his job - recruiting, IMO - is about to shut down for 3 weeks. Bohn must have him fairly well ahead of our second choice to be waiting so patiently.

The problem is that we don't know that. We don't know anything. Mike Bohn has to know that he is on the hot seat and this is absolutely not helping. It is freaking embarassing.

Confirmed says Reed: No player meeting today; Jones is still in Charlotte; constant contact between Jones and CU and talks are still ongoing.

All of these had been reported by other sources - actually, I think everything is finally in alignment for today. the waiting continues.

Also confirmed: no official contact with DeRuyter, and no current plans to meet.

I don't see anything embarrassing about what's going on right now but that's just me. Negotiations are still happening but we don't know what the substance of those negotiations are.

Mike Bohn is on the hot seat and so I'm pretty sure he's doing everything he can to make this successful. As far as whether or not this is helping or hurting him, I'm not sure we can judge that until we see the results. If he gets a coach who is successful and facilities upgrades that we all want to see then nobody is going to care that it took an extra couple of days to hash the details out.

rumors arise again! Is there a team meeting for Cincy today? A press conference? Who knows.

And, just cause I love this quote about last night's game against CSU:

as a side note, according to Adam at rivals, Butch spent significant time talking to a certain ex-CU head coach yesterday.

Random Respected Internet Poster CJB at Rivals has this as the story of yesterday, and it includes some new info:

I heard that Butch Jones met with his wife, three kids and four senior's of the team early yesterday morning before he left for Charlotte to conduct the Belk Bowl press conference.

He did not tell the seniors he was leaving, but wanted to discuss the situation with them and how it would affect the team. The players then left and after he informed his family he was taking the Colorado job. CU did not know at the time.

He then told CU yesterday afternoon that he was accepting the offer and would be the next HC at CU. Someone then leaked the story to the DP who published the lead.

Jones was extremely disappointed with the leaking. He wanted to be the one to tell the players before they heard it anywhere else. This was very important to him.

So if Jones does not announce today he is accepting the CU job, he changed his mind last night after the leak.

Colorado: Sources tell us that Butch Jones to Colorado will not happen. After sleeping on the deal, both sides agreed to move on. As we cautioned last night, a deal isn't done until the ink is dry.

The CU AD has gone silent - only activity has been from David Plati going off on Joel Klatt on twitter. No word from anyone on anything right now. It would make sense for the next hiring attempt to be silent until it is done. However, we will keep updating this as information comes out.
