Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

Strong has "a lot of breathing room" at UT with school officials and boosters. In other words, he has about a 70% chance of seeing the door come November.

Al Golden's job in Miami is now officially on the table. Plenty of upsetness in Coral Gables.

Maryland's 247 is reporting Edsall to be fired after this weekend:
Randy Edsall is unlikely to survive as Maryland's football coach past this weekend's game against Ohio State, multiple sources close to the situation told InsideMDSports. Barring an unexpected last-minute reversal, Maryland will part ways with Edsall when the floundering Terps enter their mid-season bye week.
OC Mike Locksley will probably take over.

Too bad, I thought Edsall was a decent coach. 22-33 in the middle of year five, with two bowl appearances (both losses) under his belt. Edsall and MikMac are roughly on the same trajectory (Edsall 10-19 five games into year number three, MikMac 9-20 at the same point). FWIW.

Most of those years were in the ACC, not that the Big 10 is a whole lot deeper. I'd definitely be calling for Mac's head if he had his current record but in the Average Coast Conference and with all the resources he's been given at CU.

With Edsall's humilations this year, one would say it's not entirely fair because Michigan and Ohio State will beat a lot of teams convincingly this year. The message the AD sends by firing him is that Maryland came to play in a high profile conference and their standard is hanging with those guys on Saturdays. Something a coach with consecutive bowl appearances should have been able to do in the year that followed them. Pretty clear 7 wins was going to be Edsall's ceiling at UM. As our multiple state of VA/MD/DC Buffs on this board can attest, recruiting those areas and winning with those guys should be giving better results than this. That's part of why Locksley was brought in. Nope, failure.

Pure speculation, but it is the type of hire I could see USC making.
Would make some sense.

An interesting one might be John Harbaugh. Big name coach with a lot of success who hasn't had recent success.

If he and the Raven's decide to go separate ways USC might have some appeal.

What? The guy won ten games last season in the toughest division in the NFL.
