CSU will be interesting to watch. They have a new president hired a year ago, and could be looking at a new AD that will need to potentially navigate a large buyout of Bobo, and then hire a new football coach, all under the cloud of a burgeoning financial mess.

Paradoxically, I think it's good for CU if USC gets back to being one of the super elite programs in college football.

For the old timers here who remember this, one of the things that drove McCartney's amazing rise of the CU program was that the Nubs were an elite target to shoot for. Having to overcome greatness to have great success raises the entire organization and eliminates acceptance of mediocrity -- because mediocrity gets destroyed.

That said, I wouldn't mind another year for Tucker to get his sea legs before USC brings in a guy like Urban or Franklin who would quickly take the talent level and organization back to an elite level at Troy.

One of the other things that drove Mac’s success was USC sucking, letting players like Bienemy and Figures leave for Boulder.

That's why I'd like another year of USC not being one of the top destination schools that can poach any recruit it really wants from a CU type program.

Fortunately, that's also the case right now with UT, aTm and UCLA in our best and most competitive recruiting grounds.

We need a jump on them all with another year to close the gap with current HS players in the footprint.

P.S. EB was a New Orleans recruit, but your point stands. LSU was very mediocre back then.
