Official 2025 Opening Week - Georgia Tech Thread

Good news. Yesterday: "CU is starting to get some injured offensive linemen back. Senior Tyler Brown, who had missed almost two weeks with a hand injury, returned to practice on Tuesday. Senior guard Zy Crisler, who had been out more than a week, returned on Wednesday. Senior Mana Taimani and redshirt freshman Yahya Attia have also recently returned. … Senior receiver Terrell Timmons has also returned to practice this week after missing about two weeks."

They aren't going to let Georgia Tech know until kickoff. I think its pretty obvious that Salter is the starter right now.
If they don't want GT to know until kickoff... yet everyone thinks it's obvious it's Salter... Doesn't that mean it's JuJu?

I’ve heard IDL is a bit of a question mark right now. Talent is there but there’s some issues around consistency, prep and leadership in the room. Not sure if that applies to everyone or just a couple of guys but seems to be the position with the most questions right.

On the flip side, I’ve heard EDGE and OL look nice.
This makes me nervous as Georgia Tech comes to town. They’re going to try to run it down our throat.

Interesting. I thought IDL would be one of the strengths. Hopefully they get it figured out. I was hoping McNeill would breakout this year.

The talent is there and I’m not so sure this sentiment is almost solely based on Oatis and him being a little disappointing. I’ve heard good things about Barnes and McNeill. We’re definitely going to find out quickly this year, though.

I am outrageously high on the IDL this year. Would suck if they all disappoint. But the depth and size are just ****ing unknown to Boulder for the last 25 years

Unless we just have a bunch of Tarzan’s who play like Jane’s I have to think they have a pretty high floor, even if their ceiling isn’t as high as it should be. They are rolling with like 5 upper classmen who are all 300+ lbs and most were highly recruited so the talent is there. Up to Sapp and Peko to motivate.

I was getting challenged a lot when I talked about my concerns on the IDL here a couple weeks ago. Again, I have no idea where the optimism come from. Yes, we have some guys returned, none of them is proven to be the run stopper last year.

The only one I have confidence in right now is 88.

A lot of optimism came from projection of guys and reports that Barnes, specifically, has made a sizeable jump this offseason. Obviously, Oatis was the prize and up until a couple weeks ago most figured he was going to be a major player on the DL, which he still might be if they can get him to practice with more effort and consistency.

If the DL is a letdown this year, I hope that ignites a fire under Prime that there has to be a more concerted effort to recruit blue chip HS DL moving forward and that taking a bunch of rotational guys and guys who were recruited over at SEC programs might not be the way to go.

This game will be a mirror of the NDSU game last year. They'll hammer us for most of the game, we'll get a much needed stop or two when we need it most, and our skill players and home field advantage will get us a close win in the end.
I'm hoping we can get off to a better start this year. The key to this game will be forcing GT to pass.

Things usually don't work out if this is something we are still hopeful about when it's 4 days away from your first game of the season.

Even if Barnes is as good as what we hear, that's still just two reliable guys. None of the other guys are proven at this point.

Moreover, I am also surprised by the overwhelming confidence in LB group here. Don't we forget who is their coach? George Helow is no longer helping that group.

I think the GT game will tell us if this is a 6 win team or 10 win team.

1) Whether or not they are at their peak, being able to rotate 5 IDL in this game will be a huge factor.
2) Both LBs are experienced and talented. From what I saw, Hart didn't do much coaching with them, so they are who they've been and that's good enough.
3) Whether we win or lose this one, our end result is going to land somewhere between those two extremes.
