I'm somewhere in the middle-I don't think a benching is warranted, but he was Mr. Overthrow today. We need to do everything we can to make a bowl this year-and if he's the best option.....keep playing him.

No but think of it this way. Your team got beat by a team that got beat by a MWC team. Does that make you a WAC team?

He's absolutely better than DTR, Huntley, Tate, and the ASU freshman. We don't really know much about Slovis yet, but he's got more to work with than Montez.

If you want to argue Huntley or Tate, I'll tell you which of the three between them and Montez is actually going to play QB at the next level.
 
This loss honestly doesn't change my expectations. I thought we'd be 6-8 wins this season. I still feel that way.

Air Force is the best team we've played so far. They've had the same coach for 13 years. They have a stable system in place and a solid identity. It's a shame Montez had one of his worst games. I think he'll win us one we shouldn't later on this season to make up for it.

Someone will burn a late round pick on Montez due to his size and the arm, but if you seriously think he’s a starter at the next level I’m going to laugh in your face

Do I think he's a starter in the NFL? Absolutely not. Not at this point, anyway. Are there more than a few GM's and coaches who are going to look at his tools and think "I can make this guy a quality NFL QB"? Yes.

Montez will get a cup of coffee in the NFL. He does not have any intangibles at all. He is a slow-twitch athlete. There are back up NFL nose tackles with better athleticism than Montez.

Im not blaming Montez for last play. Brown motioned left. They bracketed Viska. Brown ran a crap rout. Montez has no choice but a low and away back shoulder throw. Brown left Montez no option.
