Official Colorado vs Minnesota game Thread

Last time I remember an offense performance this bad was a USC game at Folsom when Gary Barnett was coaching. During his after-game interview on radio he said “I apologize to the entire state of Colorado.” Zero chance HCKD does thatz

Rick George was in a bad spot when Tucker left for Mich. State after national signing day. Not a ton of options for coaches at that point. Then you add a global pandemic on top of that. This offseason is key for the program's future.
Pandemic was great for CU. KD being a stable adult got us through a weird season successfully, it opened up the transfer market with immediate eligibility to play, and got us through a contract year for certain coaches.

I think we'll see 1 more year from KD. He'll make changes with offensive staff this offseason like he did with defensive last year. If it doesn't work, KD will be gone after 3 years.

If it wasn’t our offense I’d say down 13 points the game is still winnable. Somehow need defense to pitch a 2nd half shutout. Get a defensive touchdown, special teams touchdown

Any questions about whether we have a horrible staff are answered. It is now how long we let this continue before they are canned. This is as good as it gets because talent is declining. We are going to depths we went to after Barnet was let go.
We were in pretty severe decline at the end of Barnett’s tenure

Sorry but this is a poor excuse. Kansas got rid of Les Miles in April and still managed a better hire than ****ty KD.

We can talk all we want about what happened in the past - the question is, what does CU do going forward? CU could have hired a lot of people - they didn't. CU could have fired Chev in the offseason - they didn't. Nobody is going to get fired after the 3rd game of the season.

The question is - where do they go from here? The upcoming offseason is going to be critical for the future. Either they make moves to try and turn this thing around, or they spend a whole lot of money for a whole lot of losses.

We fire KD in year two after being Pac12 coach of the year, our AD would have zero credibility talking to any coaching candidate in the country. Who would take the job? Seriously? RG would be talking to high school coaches
One - it's not going to happen, so it doesn't matter.

Two - College coaches know that was the softest PAC 12 coach of the year in the softest college football season ever. Along with the fact that our schedule that we did play was Charmin soft.

There would be just as much interest as any other year. Big money. Power 5.

I don’t know. You tell me. You’re the one who brought up the past and how RG was in a tough spot.

We need to can KD and blow it up. Offensive head coach with a horrible offense. No recruiting momentum to lean on. Rip off the bandaid and try again.

Agreed - problem is Rick George badly needs needs to go, too. Incredibly, he has made the football program even worse.

Blaming the receivers is an interesting take.
Lewis might get a better vision if he wasn’t being snow-blinded by all the white shirts coming down on him. If the line would just pop the defenders twice and drop. Might slow them down better. Rod is not a D-1 P5 line coach.

One thing about Dorrell having been a head coach before, I’m convinced he will make off-season changes on the offensive staff. There will be no reluctance.
No, and double no.

Dorrell hired this bunch to start with (other than Chiv and Hagan.) A lot of them are his buddies.

Also Dorrell was a head coach before and got fired because he and his staff didn't recruit. Did he learn from it an make changes this time around? No, arguably his recruiting (both effort and results) are worse.

If you are waiting for Dorrell to fix this mess it isn't happening.

You say that - but look at all the options last year. CU wound up hiring a NFL wide receiver coach nobody else was even looking at - and are paying him more than they've ever paid any coach in CU history.

Is this offensive staff capable of making adjustment? I mean probably have to pull Lewis, but this is only a 13 point game

Money money money 💰
Yep, Navy's AD is drowning in it.

KD is going to have to hold someone on the offense responsible or he's going to lose the defense.

Yeah, we're at that point. At least one head needs to roll, even if they aren't replaced until the offseason.
