Official CU vs Delaware Game Thread

I want to see efficiency + explosive plays from both O & D in a boring game.

Basically, an offense that avoids negative plays, stays ahead of the chains, and busts a few gashers.

On defense, flow and fit vs the run with no coverage breakdowns. Be nice to see us playing in the backfield a bit since GT really limited TFLs and QB pressures, but assignment integrity is what I'll most focus on.

In short, I want to come away from Saturday feeling like we have a well-coached team that knows what it's about and has cleaned up its Week1 problems.

The natives are restless. Need a great performance to kick off this three game stretch of “should wins”.

Buffs are 23.5 point favorites and should roll but need to see a much better performance from both sides.
Delaware is a better team than their performance against DSU indicates. That said, that line should be a slap in the face to this team.

Unfortunately, my gut is telling me come the start of the 4th quarter Saturday, we're going to still see Salter and the starters out there because we haven't quite pulled away enough to be comfortable and we need to use the time to continue to work on some things before heading to Houston.

I don't think anyone on the offense should be afforded the ability to rest up in the 4th outside of Seaton and maybe some WRs since we have a ton of them who should get some PT. This weekend needs to be used as a tune up game and that includes getting Salter as many live reps as possible. However, Juju should get a couple of series throughout the game as well.

In today's presser Prime was REALLLY defensive about his coaching decisions on that last drive. And of Shurmur.
If he feels that way, then he's implying an issue with the players executing the plays (which is fair). But, calling your 5th screen pass of the game with 1 minute left, which had all been stopped for a loss or no gain the entire game, is inexcusable.

I understand not calling a TO after the first play, but there has to be more of a sense of urgency to get to the line and snap the ball. His justification of not calling a TO after the next play was really dumb, though. "It's 3rd and 1 and the clock stops when we get the first down". Well, yeah, but it took about 25 seconds to get to the line and for Kaidon to run out of bounds. Call a TO to set up 3rd and 1 with 40-45 seconds left instead of 19, then run the 3rd down play and stop the clock with a first.

He had a snarky response in his post game presser about not calling timeouts saying, "am I supposed to call the timeouts just to call them to please you (the media)". Even when the clock was stopped before the last play, why wouldn't you call a timeout just to give your receivers and QB a breather and be able to draw something up instead of rushing the hail mary where there one one receiver and 5 DBs in the area?

My biggest critique of Prime is that he simply doesn't take enough personal accountability in a public setting. Maybe he does to his coaches and players in their meetings, but it's always deflection or someone else's fault.

Yea, we can put to rest Prime ever being good at the end of games since I doubt he's saying two different things given his emotional defense of the mistake. Hope he keeps stockpiling talent.

I didn't listen to the PC today, but I guess he does take some personal accountability here

Prime's pretty consistent about protecting his coaches and the buck stopping with him. Even in 2023 when it was an open secret that the coordinators were not working out, he didn't say anything negative publicly about them.

I am stoked and will be in attendance. our Buffs will roll them and Delaware will be very sad.

the athletic had us ranked 50 before the gt loss and they still have us at 50. there are a lot of b12 teams in the top 25 so we just gotta get hot and run our way through the conference slate.

This is Prime. He won’t ever understand time management and end of game strategy. His way is to dominate the other team so there is no need to worry about that stuff. Problem is he isn’t yet dominating, so his misunderstandings are on full display. I’d be extremely happy if we never need to worry about end of game management in the future. Sign me up.
