Official CU vs Delaware Game Thread

not sure of the game plan when you are playing 3 different QBs? but we do not see route trees..(no pun) we don't see "rub" routes or "pick" routes ? all the other teams do it. Is the OC the designer of the play or is the reciever coach and pass co-ordinater involved? If not, maybe they should talk. our plays seem to just be of no plan for the next play. As if the next play is scripted no matter the down and distance.

A perfect example is the 3rd and long on Jujus 2nd drive. He was sacked but initially had time and my first reaction was coverage sack. Nope. Every receiver was on Go routes and hadn’t even looked back/made a cut by the time Juju went down.

CLASSIC SHURMUR. We’ve seen that sh!t for over 2 years now. We needed 10 yards and our receivers were at 20+ when the whistle blew

Listen, I’ve really liked Staub since he stepped foot on campus. There are tons of posts to prove it if you’re bored. But I do not believe he’s the guy to get us through conference play successfully.

BUT AGAIN, THIS IS NOT THE REAL ISSUE.

DO NOT BE DISTRACTED FROM THE FACT OUR REAL ISSUES ARE IN THE BOOTH. NOT ON THE FIELD.

This defense doesn't look that bad. They give up too many yards but it's bend don't break. This isn't 2023
396 yards by Delaware, 5 man rush ineffective, poor pass coverage half the time. They have potential, but were pretty weak yesterday.

This should be the Staub and Ju Ju show moving forward. Staub the best chance to win and develop JuJu. Full stop. salter needs to move to QB 3 at this point. He is so inaccurate especially when he is moving. Not to bad when he sets up but he could not hit a ****ing thing when he is rolling or moving and decides to throw.

Let’s be clear on something. Staub being in the program for 3 years helped him immensely. He got the same sh!t fvkk bulljunk garbage calls the other QBs got. However, being comfortable enough in the system and his role as simply QB3 allowed him to say fvkk it and change up the calls ala SS2. That’s where his success came today. Not in Shurmur’s scheme, but in his confidence to know what was available to him beyond that base scheme. Congrats to him for seeing things our OC didn’t.
I read that as well. Staub changed each long pass in the huddle. Basically telling the players, F this, our OC is trash, this is what will work. Juju may be more naturally talented, but he wasn't here to understand how Shedeur called the plays and probably does not have the opportunity to change plays in the huddle without getting yanked. So in that case, yeah, Staub is the best option.

I think firing Shurmer at this point does more harm then good for retaining Lewis. He came here to learn under him. He ain't ready though yet.

So you play the cards you have.

We have houston and wyoming next up.

You start Staub. You still try to give Juju meaningful playing time.

Firing your OC after a win in week 2 where you covered the spread because of the play of your 3rd string qb and handing the reigns to a 17 year old true frosh who reclassified and didnt even play his senior year in HS and doesnt appear to be ready yet, is not the recipe for a winning season.

Salter was supposed to be the bridge, but that bridge is too shaky so the bridge needs to be staub until juju can prove he is ready. There is still time.

The analogy I like for describing QB accuracy at the different levels of football is to imagine a modest, 1 story house with a 1 car garage. From the street, a HS QB needs to be able to be able to throw a football and hit the house. A college QB needs to be able to hit the garage door. An NFL guy has to be able to peg any window.

With Shedeur, we were spoiled by having NFL level accuracy from the position. Salter seems to ride the line between HS & CFB level accuracy.

"Oof" isn't about sensitivity, the oof is for how cringe it is to imagine you thinking that your weird little post would be funny. Like we're all getting that second-hand embarrassment right now.
Really it’s not about sensitivity huh because it sounds like you’re crying right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I forget the average age of this board is like 50, that got lots of laughs from my friends

Sorry folks but if you're getting excited about Staub I just watched the all-22 tape and I have some MAJOR concerns:

31 yard pass to Williams on his first drive: Sure it seemed like a nice throw and setup the TD before half but the film shows that the bubble screen was open here and would've lost at least 1-2 yards but instead Staub decided to gain 31 to the Delaware 21 which meant the punter would no longer be able to keep his leg warm by getting one last punt in before halftime.
21 Yard TD pass, 1st drive: Huge mistake here, scored with 9 seconds left which gave Delaware plenty of time to run one play before the half which could've been devastating. You gotta throw the bubble screen here and lose 1-2 yards and take some more time off the clock so Delaware can't run a play before the half.
71 yard TD pass after halftime: Wow this one looks really awful on the All-22 film, not sure what Staub was thinking here. He had a wide receiver WIDE open for the bubble screen but he didn't even glance at him. He was so focused on the wide open Sincere Brown that he couldn't even comprehend that a 1-2 yard loss is way better in that situation. Losing 1-2 yards is a key to an NFL like offense as genius shurmur knows because it allows you to really open up the playbook for those 3rd and longs that every offense craves.

Gotta hope Staub learns from the film before next week otherwise we could be in a lot of trouble gaining all these yards

He hasn't looked good once this season as he has all offseason. I think it's just too much in his head. We know he's a baller. Let the game come to you. He's getting open, just not making plays
Offseason he was playing against our defense. I mean…

Okay my 2 cents after yesterday.

1. Some of y’all need help. There are significant number of posters in the game thread that overreact to put it very mildly.

2. Staub deserves the start this week. I saw a gamer out there that was decisive and aggressive and I sensed the team getting behind him. Also Ryan Staub should be 1-0 as our starter. We lost at Utah 23-17 in 2023 and he had back to back touchdown passes not count due to an inexplicable TD overturned by replay, then threw a another TD on the next play that officials marked Hunter out of bounds and the replay showed he wasn’t, but it was never reviewed.

3. Still want to see JuJu get some reps.

4. I would like to see some situational packages for Salter. He could be used in some short yardage rushing schemes.

Yes, really. My post was blatantly making fun of you, yet it went right over your head. Let me simplify: you sound like a moron and an incel who's desperately looking for validation online.

Last week, Delaware had 409 offensive yards against Delaware State. They had 396 against CU yesterday.
Livingston has a lot of work to do.
I think yards is really the wrong way to analyze the Livingston defense. They seem clearly committed to bend but don't break. The keys all year are going to be turnovers, the red zone, and 3rd/4th down conversions.
