Official CU vs Delaware Game Thread

I think yards is really the wrong way to analyze the Livingston defense. They seem clearly committed to bend but don't break. The keys all year are going to be turnovers, the red zone, and 3rd/4th down conversions.
And, as someone mentioned earlier, 70-something of those yards came on an offensive hold and the yards only counted because the defense forced a turnover.

anyone feeling any better after digesting yesterday?

the LBs need to get better but I think generally the D should/could be ok in most of our. matchups.

I'm still shaking my head about the offensive side of the ball, especially after reading some of the post-game remarks. staub knew he was going to play on Friday? and, he gave Shurmur a list of plays he wanted? cool. but that sounds like they had already decided that salter was on thin ice. what in the world are we going to see on Friday? 3 QBs?

if we actually want to be a physical running team then why not more counters and misdirection and work between the tackles? I don't understand the thinking. and all those stupid horizontal bubble screens and such? Delaware is smaller, slower, and less athletic CU and they still dominated on the side line to side line play calls. gotta be more creative than that...

salter threw a few really bad passes and made some poor run/pass decisions but his TD play was quite nice. if he is gonna play, he needs to settle down and stop trying to be a throw first guy AND we need to call plays that put him in a position be successful.

I just dunno, man.

Let’s be clear on something. Staub being in the program for 3 years helped him immensely. He got the same sh!t fvkk bulljunk garbage calls the other QBs got. However, being comfortable enough in the system and his role as simply QB3 allowed him to say fvkk it and change up the calls ala SS2. That’s where his success came today. Not in Shurmur’s scheme, but in his confidence to know what was available to him beyond that base scheme. Congrats to him for seeing things our OC didn’t.
This is pretty much where I'm at.

I feel about the same. I anticipated this season being a little up and down/ a learning process and transition.

I did not anticipate the QB conundrum.

Franklin Delano Staub.
staub it now I mean it!

not sure of the game plan when you are playing 3 different QBs? but we do not see route trees..(no pun) we don't see "rub" routes or "pick" routes ? all the other teams do it. Is the OC the designer of the play or is the reciever coach and pass co-ordinater involved? If not, maybe they should talk. our plays seem to just be of no plan for the next play. As if the next play is scripted no matter the down and distance.
If you have 3 QB’s you don’t have 1.

It appears that we have one QB that can run this offense.

We have one who has all of the skills to take this offense to the next level, but isn't ready yet.

We have one who doesn't appear to have the ability to run this offense with consistency.

So I'd argue we don't have three quarterbacks. We have one. It all seems pretty easy to me.

My issue is that Prime will never stick to or live by a College Dual Threat QB because they do not likely go to the NFL.
The new NFL QB is mobile in the pocket and can be extremely accurate with quick, normal, and off platform throws.
Juju is 100% that guy, and so we need to have an OC and a system that builds on that and also helps RB's and WR's look good
I guess, we want to simply copy exactly what Ohio State does, so how does hiring Pat Fereaking Shurmur do that? He has no clue about college football, barely even knows what current NFL football looks like.

Who could we get that fits the mold of what we need?

This should be the Staub and Ju Ju show moving forward. Staub the best chance to win and develop JuJu. Full stop. salter needs to move to QB 3 at this point. He is so inaccurate especially when he is moving. Not to bad when he sets up but he could not hit a ****ing thing when he is rolling or moving and decides to throw.
What’s wild to me is that he was fantastic rolling/on the move in the past. Go back and watch some clips of him from 23/24. Darts on the move, mid when standing in the pocket. Idk what happened to him.
Really it’s not about sensitivity huh because it sounds like you’re crying right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I forget the average age of this board is like 50, that got lots of laughs from my friends
First of all bucko, we’re all 35. Second, I’m actually less than 35 and I didn’t find it funny. Not because I’m sensitive, I’m one of the least pc people I know. It just wasn’t funny. Poor taste.

He wasn’t running this offense. He was running his version of the Shedeur offense.

Can anyone say that the Shedeur offense was well designed, well conceived, or well called?

Shurmur ruins football watching
Shedeur was running the Shedeur offense. Last year’s offense was like how Curb Your Enthusiasm was performed. Shurmur laid out a general premise of the game plan. The rest was improvised by the players on the field.
