LIVE! Official CU vs Houston game thread - 9/12/25

Staub consistency was well, bad.

Houston played exactly like they played on film and smashed us with smashmouth football.

No misdirection. Just pure ball.

Disgusted with the defense.

Disappointed with the weapons on offense.

Disappointed with the run blocking

Lost 200 dollars on this damn squad. I was that confident with any QB CU had this game. You told me we score 20, I would have told you we would win 20-7. 🤣

Disgusted!

college programs need a system that carries over from year to year. we don't have that on offense, at all.

and, yes, top to bottom, we have more guys than houston. throwing juju in will change nothing without more structural improvements.
Lets be real. 20 points against this Houston isn't that bad. I had this being a low scoring affair in general.

Giving up 30+ to Houston and it could have been 50. The defense has been awful. This is 2023 bad. Maybe worse.

We want to jump on Pat because of the talent on that side of ball but let's be real, these guys on offense don't have the it factor consistently. At times Staub has it. At times, O and Sincere has it. Even Jojo but they go through bad lulls. I actually like our backs the most but the interior of our OL couldn't get push against Delaware and got negative push against Houston. Our run blocking feels like 2023 all over again.

Staub flashed nice things but he was pretty below average for the most part. He had moments of hot play and moments of times where he looked like the QBs CU had before Shedeur in 2022. Where they look like they could be pros at times but look below average, a lot.

Unless our kryptonite this year is ball control offenses, and the first 3 opponents are the worst possible matchup for that, I'm feeling ready to kiss my over 6.5 wins bets goodbye.

This QB situation is such a mess now. This coaching staff is going to earn its money by keeping this locker room together, or it's going to fall on its face.

And the defense is worse than the offense. The d line and linebacker play is beyond atrocious right now.

Pretty uninformed statement that would be true had it not been the entire story all week, ding dong. Shureturd has been in control for how many games? I think the problem is even the avg observer, can pump up the successes, yet, your OC comes in and does not run what works with THE 3rd QB. When he does, it works. Meaning he’s a good QB coach, perhaps. But utterly incompetent at putting pressure on a defense. Which is ****ing easy in college for people that belong.

defense was on the field too much. defense is getting exposed at its weak points. offense, fritz made sure that cinderella wasn't going to marry the prince. schematically, on offense, we don't appear to have a coherent strategy to run the ball like a college team runs. we have some wideouts, despite the drops. we have some RBs despite the overall production. we have some OL... this offense could win with staub. I am not sure this offense can win with Shurmur.

I think this team has talent but their lacking like last year but no one who could do more like Shedeur or Travis. Then you had 3 pro WRs. These guys are all talented but their consistency is like Staub. Flashes. Just flashes. You cant win with flashes. You need consistency.

Dropped passes, the O-line is in complete disarray both running and pass protection, D-line is soft, still waiting for our LBers to enroll but at least Byard is a player. Maybe Prime should spend less time self promoting and more time figuring out how to right this ship.

We did not play complementary football. Numerous 3 and outs put the defense in horrid shape. Defense got tired and lost its edge. Snowballed.

Our only positive offensive plays happened when Staub had to improv. Shurmur has to be fired ASAP. We should not be this bad.
Pat looks bad man. Delaware was rough too. I actually felt he did well against Tech

TBH. Both are mid in this offoffense
none of these WRs are consistent. Not one of them

Put in Jack and Kaleb. We need guys who consistently get open. We had that with Wester and Hunter. We have Brown who gives you a bit of Horn's threat to take the top so we aren't missing him as much as the others.

I am not close to an expert. But the few camera shots I saw when Houston was passing, I saw Buff defenders in the defensive backfield who were not close to a receiver. I assume they were playing zone, but even then, aren’t your defenders supposed to be in the vicinity of a receiver?

Livingston doesn't get off the hook. The D can't even tackle
Probably a we don’t tackle mindset, “we’re live today!!” Attitude. I’d run Oklahoma drills for the entire weekend. Relegate Shureturd, let Bartelone call plays and pray Juju excels because you’ve led him well. Maybe delay payment a few days for a few.

Sweat, grind…

Team is pathetic, expect spin and deflection. Pretty toxic **** when you’re in the relationship we all are.

Not to tear open a wound, but I feel like Salter(I know the little engine that could was the starting QB today) should be running 10x a game and things would be a lot better on both sides of the ball.
The issue is, the WRs wasn't getting open. How would Salter do better in this situation? He doesn't throw anyone open

We got all of these talented WRs but which one is actually consistent?

Salter doesn't want to run. If we could put Staub brain and it factor in Salter body with his talent, we wouldn't be playing Staub

They didn’t help Staub. Too many dropped balls. Not to excuse Staub. He made too many horrible throws.
