Not far to go, they are pretty bad as it stands.Unless our kryptonite this year is ball control offenses, and the first 3 opponents are the worst possible matchup for that, I'm feeling ready to kiss my over 6.5 wins bets goodbye.
This QB situation is such a mess now. This coaching staff is going to earn its money by keeping this locker room together, or it's going to fall on its face.
I would be completely on board with handing playcalling over to Bartolone for Wyoming.Probably a we don’t tackle, “we’re live today!!” Attitude. I’d run Oklahoma drills for the entire weekend. Relegate Shureturd, let bartelone call plays and pray Juju
Stores because you’ve led him well. Maybe delay payment a few days for a few. Sweat, grind… team is pathetic, expect spin and deflection. Pretty toxic **** when you’re in the relationship we all are.
Too many bad throws. That said, we had guys last year that if you drop 8, we would get open. Today that wasn't the case. Nor was it in the last two games. Maybe we just got talent but not many good playersThey didn’t help Staub. Too many dropped balls. Not to excuse Staub. He made too many horrible throws.
When you’re blitzing you have to account for extra player in d backfield that is typically zone. Unless you delay blitz.I am not close to an expert. But the few camera shots I saw when Houston was passing, I saw Buff defenders in the defensive backfield who were not close to a receiver. I assume they were playing zone, but even then, aren’t your defenders supposed to be in the vicinity of a receiver?
Wrong. CU are the best at kickoffs and punting and I’m not being facetious. At this point, it’s clear this is a bad team. Not one area stands out as a positive. Even when they manage a positive play, it takes superhuman effort, luck, and they make it look so hard. Connors got 8 all day long. I wouldn’t be surprised to see any players who have options hit the portal. There aren’t that many with that kind of talent on this team. CU focused on skill players and can’t get them the ball. DBs can’t cover consistently, and they have to bring the house for any pass rush. I’ve been watching this Buff mediocrity since 1975. It’s getting old, like me. Lol

Soooo not a future NFL QB? Just want to make sure I’m keeping up.Staub looked like a backup QB today. Does he have talent, yes. Was he good? No.
? There is no way Staub is a NFL QB. Not even close.Soooo not a future NFL QB? Just want to make sure I’m keeping up.
Or Staub, 2min seems to work/ chip Kelley tempo…What does Grayson run?Season is lost. No reason not to fire shurmer and then let Bartolone call an Air Raid with Juju.
They have a lot of talent but none of them are actually consistent but Seaton, Price, Hill, and that's it sans special teamsCP relies on transfers. He had been successful bringing in talent, based on him being Prime and a belief he would win. That is no longer the case. I think he is going to struggle bringing in top transfer players moving forward, seasoned players want a chance to win and get to the league (not lose amongst chaos).
CP does not have a good 2026 HS recruiting class
CP is terrible at clock and game management
It appears this will be a losing record, and possibly fortunate to get 3-4 wins. For the first time, CP may very possibly lose talented players to the portal at seasons end.
CP's belief in Shurmur is misguided and disruptive to progress
CP's insistence on keeping Hart and the absolutely horrid LB play calling is also misguided and drags down the overall defense/team.
CP was a blessing after kardboard. However, I don't see any forward movement at this point. Given that this program hung on to Hawkins, McIntyre and Kardboard too long, and endured bottom of P4 level results, I think RG will find himself in a tough position with a bad losing record this year. Stay with CP and continue to see the downward spiral after this dismal season or fire CP and the blowback that will bring.
The only way to inprove results immediately I can see, is CP firing Shurmur and Hart in the next couple weeks. There is enough talent on this roster to be undefeated and win 10 games.
I agree. #1 made a long post earlier in the week saying he was a future NFLer? There is no way Staub is a NFL QB. Not even close.
After today, hell no. We saw against higher end comp, he couldn't complete a pass over 10 yards. Looked like Ryan Lindley.? There is no way Staub is a NFL QB. Not even close.
Defense had a bad night tackling, especially the QB.Lets be real. 20 points against this Houston isn't that bad. I had this being a low scoring affair in general.
Giving up 30+ to Houston and it could have been 50. The defense has been awful. This is 2023 bad. Maybe worse.
We want to jump on Pat because of the talent on that side of ball but let's be real, these guys on offense don't have the it factor consistently. At times Staub has it. At times, O and Sincere has it. Even Jojo but they go through bad lulls. I actually like our backs the most but the interior of our OL couldn't get push against Delaware and got negative push against Houston. Our run blocking feels like 2023 all over again.
Staub flashed nice things but he was pretty below average for the most part. He had moments of hot play and moments of times where he looked like the QBs CU had before Shedeur in 2022. Where they look like they could be pros at times but look below average, a lot.
I sure did if he could maintain what we saw against Delaware and be consistent. I would still say that he is if he played exactly like he played against Delaware. What we saw today was a QB who couldn't complete a pass beyond 10 yards. Wasn't going through his progressions unless it was no huddle, uptempo where he had to improvise. He honestly looked horrible in the pocketI agree. #1 made a long post earlier in the week saying he was a future NFLer
The defense is still terrible. Couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. They were getting gashed way too much in the 1st quarter and while they limited that in the 2nd half outside of Vickers, they just couldn't get stops.Defense had a bad night tackling, especially the QB.
Beyond that considering that the offense was non-existent the 1st and 3rd quarters they weren't terrible. They didn't get off the field but the offense having 6 total yards in the second half with about 7 minutes left puts pressure on the defense that will eventually break them.
This was a team loss.
Staub looked much better when he was just playing football instead of trying to be the Squirmers puppet. He also had some drops but it is the coaches job to not call plays that don't suit your players including your QB.
He ran for 1000 yards 2 years ago. The staff obviously scouted him at Liberty, so why coach that out of him? It's the strength of his entire game, it opens everything else up for him. I'm not saying run him into the ground, I'm saying why bring him in and change him?The issue is, the WRs wasn't getting open. How would Salter do better in this situation? He doesn't throw anyone open
We got all of these talented WRs but which one is actually consistent?
Salter doesn't want to run. If we could put Staub brain and it factor in Salter body with his talent, we wouldn't be playing Staub
We saw him in two games here. He never looked to run even as much as Staub did today and Staub doesn't have half the running ability of Salter but he has 10x more heart and willHe ran for 1000 yards 2 years ago. LOL. This team is poor at QB, mediocre at RB and WR, terrible on both lines, and absolutely horrific at LB and safety (outside Byard), This is not a talented team, and I agree it’s also poorly coached.CP relies on transfers.
