Buffs are 13.5 point dogs

TCU D (Big 12 Ranks) - 11th in Scoring Defense, 14th in total Defense, 15th in Passing Defense and 8th in Rushing Defense
TCU O (Big 12 Ranks) - 5th in Scoring Offense, 5th in total Offense, 3rd in Passing Offense and 16th in Rushing Offense

Only chance CU has is if they truly commit to the run from start to finish, shorten the game to limit TCU possessions and actually consistently finish drives with points. TCU defense isn't very good so CU offense should be able to find some success, but they will need to execute. They will also need to move to zone coverages for much of this game, IMO, as our DBs can't hang with their passing game in man coverage. Josh Hoover had his worst game of the season last weekend against a mediocre ASU defense, so it's possible that the right scheme/calls and some breaks going the Buffs way keep them in it.

Have to take risks this week. Calling plays like they have 4 downs to pick up 10 yards and scheming up heavy pressure packages in an attempt to force turnovers. Prime told the media he wants his team to play like their lives and careers are on the line, and that's also how he'll need to coach if they want a chance to pull off the upset.

Agree with your take. Excellence of Execution! Also, an active pass rush dinging Hoover a bit early could do wonders. I wish we would have got a few clean shots on Bear early last weekend. Maybe the D could have rattled him somewhat.

I'm not sure how accurate the injury list actually is or how much turf is the cause of these injuries. Also, injuries have most always been plentiful in CFP. Some repeatedly out could just be done playing football or trying for red-shirt, injury or otherwise. Iowa State and Bayor are mash units as well. I do hope/expect that some of these guys come back, but it is next guy up.
 
I did not include my list from BYU. I'm probably in the minority, but considering the tough opponent, I thought CU probably played its best half of football and the 3Q was a stalemate with CU leading into the 4th Q. BYU shut down the offense in 2nd Q, but except for the 2 PI/holding penalties on BYU's 95 yard drive the D played decent. The D was more competitive, we had some big plays early but less as the game went on. We could not close but it was 1 possession game.

Hopes for TCU:

1. Salter somehow plays better on the road with the O showing more wrinkles. Last week, Drelon stepped up into a new role. We were run heavy and Oline held up. Although not many attempts, the WR's seemed to be more steady. Have to figure out whether Sincere Brown can get open regularly deep and incorporate that, even if Salter and he do not connect. Stretch the field some and minimize the negative plays. Come out white hot on the road and continue to make progress.

2. On defense, hopefully the Dline and blitzers start to get home putting licks on the oppossing QB. The secondary is maligned, but more pressure can solve some of that. We need to open up the turnover genie box, or use the TO chain or chair. Outside of Ga Tech, not many turnovers.

3. For the coaches, be the team that makes the right adjustments first, rather than playing from behind. BYU adjusted and found a way. CU has to do the same thing. I felt like CU came out of the lockerroom both havles intense and with energy. The O started the game with confidence and results.

4. Pull of TCU shocker #2. Just win baby!

I just can't buy into that idea because with a competent QB this team is 4-1 and probably sitting in the top 25. To your point, a competent offensive scheme and playcalling probably has this team at 4-1, even with the current QB1.

I know the changes you're referring to aren't exclusive to Pat Shurmur/OC, but I think we are all assuming there will be a change at that staff position. The other changes would be LB and maybe CB coaches. Of course, we could also be looking to replace Helow if he decides to leave for a different/better opportunity as well, but I would say OC/QB, CB and LB are the three changes that should/could be made.
 
I'm hoping for an inverse of 2023: pathetic and incompetent start with a brilliant finish.

I think this team is probably better than the 2023 team, almost thanks to the oline alone.
 
Did anyone get tickets through the CU allotment? If so, are they in the 410 area like they were in 2023?
 
I was actually impressed with how CU played last week.

The one true road game was a disaster though. I think CU matches up better with TCU than BYU. It’ll be interesting to see how Prime gets this team up for this game.
