Official Spring Practices Thread

Did they play that hard all of last year??? Intensity is way up, like having more Landman’s all over the field!
Montez made the wrong decision to give the ball on that zone read. The DE totally crashed down. Should've pulled it. Likely had a huge lane to run.
Yeah, I'm that guy...

I'd love to see the running game get going at next week's spring game.

Wow. It’s so hard to judge when they’re playing themselves, but that sounds like a very weak defensive effort. I hope our offense is really that good.

It’s a scrimmage, I get it. But dominance by one side of the ball over the other isn’t a good thing.

The offense should be pretty good. Dominant? Highly unlikely.

maybe they were doing a lot of situational work that put the d in a bad spot?

optimism!
Likely they did a lot of redzone. It is a little concerning in Woelks article he says in the two scrimmages combined the defense has only forced 1 turnover.

So did the offense “win” because Howell’s tweet said QBs didn’t throw any INTs, or what? A true freshman had 2 sacks and Akil Jones had 1 sack.

The offensive highlights of Joe Davis rushing for 3.6 YPC and Tony Brown having 58 receiving yards doesn’t really say offensive domination to me.

Any other reason to believe the offense dominated the defense?

4 presumed red zone rushing TDs. 78% completion percentage. I’m guessing the sacks were generous as per previous reports.

Eh. How many attempts from the 1 yard line? High efficiency passing game? Whats a generous sack when QBs can’t be fully hit or brought to the ground? Point is, there’s a lot of hand wringing about the defense with little to no actual information or context.

The Arias TD was not from the 1 yd line. Point taken on the others. However, consider 3 other rushing TDs, whether from inside the 5 yl or not = OL beating DL and we know what the OL is.

I’m actually bullish on the OL this year. Healthy Lynott, bigger, stronger Sherman, in shape Roddick, Hambright, better overall competition and much better coach. Point taken, though.

DL depth is scary right now so I’m sure that’s part of any issues going on there.

And by the way, I’m perfectly fine with a dominant Arias. That dude is gonna explode.

I’m worried teams will quickly figure out how to double team Mustafa and at that point there are many many unanswered questions.
