Ohio State banned from 2012 postseason participation

Utterly ridiculous. This won't hurt them in any significant way. Yeah, they lose some money and a few scholarships. BFD. The money is a drop in the bucket to them.

AND they got to upgrade their coach in the process. Useless penalty.

The AD smith at OSU is a freaking tool. Guy is crooked as they come and how nice of him to not appeal these sanctions. Guy has the gull to say they were shocked and dissappointed. He shouldn't even have a job.

NCAA is waiting for New Mexico State or Eastern Tennessee to give a recruit and extra hot dog, then you will see the dedication to enforcing the rules. .

tOSU will just get another NCAA president hired from their administration. He will tell them that they are bad boys and they will feel bad, discipline given.

I saw that last night and almost threw something at the tv.

You know damned good and well that after the "sanctions" were delivered, announced publicly, and responded to in the media (see above) by blowhio state, that the big wigs in Columbus were behind closed doors sipping scotch and laughing at the ncaa -- again.

This all said, they might really hammer Penn State. The NCAA is very good at avoiding anything of substance when it comes to schools with money and influence that might fight back but also very good at beating up on the weaker members.

With all that is going on in the media and their entire athletic program gutted the NCAA might see Penn State as an opportunity to "show that they are serious" with a big name that can't fight back. It will be interesting to see what happens.

What NCAA violations did psu committ? NCAA won't do anything.

A couple of things. One is when has the truth ever had a lot to do with what the NCAA does. They can ignore players getting cars and houses and penalize schools for giving kids a jacket in a snowstorm or letting them eat at a training table.

Second is that they have already announced that the Big 10 and the NCAA are going to investigate the program at PSU. They are interested in making themselves look like they have control and will find enough to make a case. Once they find violations, and that can be done in virtually any program due to the way the rules are written, then the old "Lack of institutional control" will be a slam dunk. The head coach was giving orders to the athletic director, the compliance officials, the university discipline board, and the school president.

If the NCAA determines it is in their best interest to hammer PSU then the opportunity is there to make a spectacular show of it. I doubt that they will pass it up with PSU in this weakened state.

I'll believe it when I see it. Nothing that I can see in the Sundusky case has anything to do with NCAA rules as far as I can tell. If they can go in and dig up other ****, fine.

NCAA would look into the school's "exercise of institutional control" when dealing with allegations that a former defensive coordinator sexually assaulted children on the school's sprawling campus in State College.

how strict is this?

Talked about this with a buddy that follows CFB.

There are PLENTY of kids lining up to play at tOSU. There's at least 3 rich kids a year whose parents are tOSU alums and/or fans that Meyer will be able to convince that it's worthwhile to be a PWO and that'll he will give them a scholarship when the opportunity rises up.

Unless they decreased the roster limit as well from 105 (103?) by 3 as well then this will not be an issue there. At all.
