OL recruiting - a big problem

I will give OL recruiting a B- so far. Big loss is Dan Skipper, but it is not over, things can still develop. I like the Guards. I sure hope this new class coming in can be as good as the 2001 team with Guorode, Rogers and co. That was the last time we had a good OL in my opinion.

What Lindsay's recruitment shows, is that big time school will offer a kid even if the kid is commited elsewhere. Let's see if some of our OL recruits start picking up some good offers.

Who need freshman when we have "Nembot the .... well never mind" 6pack.jpg

I have never seen an 8-pack on an offensive line men.

Hopefully he ends up as good as this guy (Tyron Smith)

Is the name of this thread a pun? Seriously?

"OL recruiting a BIG problem.

I went back and looked at their recruiting over the last 10 years. To be honest, it is a mixed bag. A handful of 4* players (including NFL players Joe Thomas and Peter Konz), mostly 3* players, and some off-the-radar 2* players. They were competing with other BCS programs for quite a few players though.

I agree that OL is pretty hard to project to the next level and that teams are all looking for different things in linemen, but I think it is also fair to question Marshall's recruiting as well. In his last stint here (albeit very short), he coached under another system coach. AZ posted this list on his site recently, it shows some of the players Marshall helped recruit to CU:

Brian Daniels
Mark Fenton
Edwin Harrison
Kharylake Martin
Gary Moore
Clint O'Neal
Tyler Polumbus
Drew Shrader
Del Scales
Fred Staugh
McKenzie Tillman
Jack Tipton
Clint Werth

Outside of Fenton and Polumbus, really not much there. Keep in mind he inherited Gurode and Rodgers, anchors on that 2001 team.

Sorry to bump this but this article was in the Denver Gazette today.

I knew this guy owned the Denver Biscuit Company etc. - but am I the only one that remembers when he played for the buffs?

I think he played as a Freshman but then hurt is shoulder and had to quit the game.

Have eaten at Denver Biscuit and totally worth it. Need to check out Atomic Cowboy because I'm a pizza freak.
