Other Games 09/04 - 09/06

Their last 2 games against FBS opponents were each the worst loss in Gundy's history as their HC. Buffs and Ducks throwing dirt on that grave.

Gundy oddly conceded a blowout before the game was even played and then his team somehow looked way worse than expected.

Went over to sheepnation to see a little of their reaction to their game today.

Remember this is the fan base that wanted the FBI to investigate OPI penalties against CU.

General sense is that the program is treading water, not high expectations for the season, some expect Norvill to be fired end of the season, and surprisingly some of their regular poster are flat out admitting that they got saved by the refs..

UNC got screwed big time.

In case you didn’t see it live or on replays, Army pulled off an onside kick I’ve only seen in the movies. Army’s kicker picked a K State player and kicked it straight at him. Poor kid had no chance. It hit his leg and ricocheted right back towards the Army players for the easy recovery. It was perfect.

Necessary Roughness? Haven't seen it in forever but pretty sure it happened in that movie.

Crazy weekend for the small colleges.

Northern Colorado has been a mess for a long time but if not for an unexplainable replay reversal they would be 2-0 with a win over CSU. Need to see if they can continue to move towards respectability. Their limited resources make any championship aspirations unlikely but even being a decent program would be a huge step up.

I already mentioned CSU Pueblo getting upset with a missed extra point costing them a shot at OT.

Colorado Mines won on the road at West Texas A&M 33-31

Western Colorado won big visiting Midwestern State in Texas 38-13.

Not winning, and maybe not winning all year Adams State got smashed by UT Permian Basin 41-7

Colorado Mesa 28 Eastern New Mexico 7

Maybe the biggest surprise came with the Fort Lewis win. Not entirely shocking that they won, after all the beat Arizona Christian last year as well, 17-12. The big surprise was the margin of victory. The Fort Lewis team that has lost multiple games by 50 points, that lost a game two years ago by 82 points got themselves a blowout win 58-10.

P4 v P4 summary

Iowa State over Iowa 16-13
Baylor over SMU 48-45 in 2OT
Oregon over Okie Lite 69-3
Illinois over Duke 45-19
Miss State over Arizona State 24-20
Oklahoma over Michigan 24-13
Mizzou over Kansas 42-31
Vandy over VaTech 44-20
Mich State over BC 42-40
BYU over Stanford 27-3

P4 losses to non-P4

USF over Florida 18-16
UNLV over UCLA 30-23
Army over K-State 24-21
Ohio over W. Virginia 17-10

ACC goes 0-5, yikes. Curious to see if this hurts them, none of the losses were shockers, SMU losing at home to Baylor was a mild upset; but they did get blown out in 3 of the matchups.

Big XII goes 3-3, but the narrative is pretty negative with the last place finisher from the SEC knocking off defending conference champs, and two pretty bad losses to Ohio and Army. Thank goodness the early rivalry games went the Big XII's way by a FG each. Beating Stanford in the NIL era may be equivalent to beating a group of 5 team.

Big 10, 3-2, big loss in the only top 25 matchup of the day. Would love to see UCLA turn around their season again and be decent in B1G 10 play, but it's not looking good.

SEC, 4-0. The fightin' Dillinghams and Jalon Daniels let the whole country down. The Florida loss is delightful.
