Is there a more mediocre, yet completely overrated program than Wisconsin?
You know I hate me some Wisconsin.

I fully believe that program was running an 80’s, 90’s level roping program for 25 years, and the Watt brothers are examples 1and 1a of that.

Nothing recruits that magically became the most physically gifted athletes on Earth.

Clemson was ranked #4 preseason.
I could not for the life of me, understand why they were getting so much hype, and why Klubnik was this huge Heisman favorite.

If you look at the pre season prognostications…pretty much every QB the talking heads expected to be great have ended up being some level of decidedly mid to absolute ass.

Sellers and Lagway being ass/somewhat average hasn’t shocked me one bit.

Salter just doesn’t want to get hit, is the problem.

As Lama has said…he’s got no dawg in him
Ehh I don’t like this criticism. How many QBs actively look for contact? Haynes King, Byrum Brown. And?

I’ve seen salter, even this year, lay out for a tud. But he’s not going to lower his shoulder for an extra yard. I don’t mind that.

THIS

I don't need him to channel Lawrence Vickers, I just want him to tuck and run oob a couple yards past the sticks when it's there instead of chucking up a prayer on 3rd and 6 when the pocket breaks down.

He's also a tiptoer rather than a cut and slash type of runner. The tiptoeing/dancing has been effective, he makes guys miss, but I think people view it as chicken**** or something.

Regarding Clemson, I think it was just the fact that they won the ACC, albeit by backing into the title game, and then a good showing by Klubnik against Texas in the playoffs. Yet they forget that Clemson needed a last-second FG to beat an overrated SMU team and also lost their regular season finale at home to SCarolina.

IIRC, Sellers balled out in that Clemson/SC game and it came down to the wire too, right?

UNLV worked their butts off to tie Miami OH 24-24 in the 4th…then gave up a kick return TD on the ensuing kickoff…then threw a puck six on the first play of their next possession.

Tied 24-24 to losing 38-24 in 25 seconds of game time

Salter's problem is that he wants to prove to everybody that he is a pro style, pass first QB who can use his mobility to create passing opportunities. The traits that he thinks will get him drafted.

The problem for him is that isn't who he is. He's an RPO QB who has to use his running ability to get the defense to protect against the QB running game and take advantage of the gaps that creates. No demonstrated running threat, no gaps, no passing success.

Like a lot of college QBs he is more a thrower than a passer. He can spot and hit a wide open receiver but he can't hit tight spots and he doesn't see guys coming open before they actually are.

We were very spoiled by having Shedeur who in contrast was an elite college level "passer" not just thrower.

Dampier isn't even a really good thrower. He has certain throws he does well but his skills are limited. He did well enough at NM to be in demand in the portal but don't forget that NM wasn't exactly a powerhouse, even against MWC level defenses. And there are reasons that Dampier wasn't heavily recruited, especially by P4 level teams out of high school. Many of those reasons are still valid.
