Other Games 11/11 - 11/16

Please find me an example of anyone at CU talking **** outside of in game chirping that every single other team does. I just want to see one example, I’d love you to produce said **** talking.
I feel like you’re assuming “**** talking” means directed at other teams.

I feel like you’re assuming “**** talking” means directed at other teams.
What does that mean to you? Being confident about your own team is not equivalent to talking **** about other teams.

Like I said, provide an example.

So did the **** talking.
You're full of ****. If I remember correctly it was said in the media that Prime was just a celebrity with no coaching skill and that CU had the worst roster in division one. Everyone got on their knees praying for an opening week blowout vs TCU. They prayed every week for almost a month until we finally lost. So I have no problem with Prime getting defensive or as you call it "talking ****".

Lobos upset of Wazzu was the program's first non-conference win against a ranked opponent since 1940. 😲
Does that mean that NM is actually showing signs of life or show how far Wazzou has fallen this quickly, I'd say both.

Even though our winning has kept most of them quiet recently we haven't heard an acknowledgement from most of these people that they were wrong.

As I've said before Prime is a proud Black man who isn't shy about being justifiably proud of who he is, what he is, and what he has accomplished. There are lot's of people in the media who hate him for that.

They are okay with Black coaches (not happy but okay) as long as those coaches meet their own expectations of how a coach should act and look. People like Tyrone Willingham and Karl Dorrell are acceptable. A guy who wears shades and a branded hoody with jewelry isn't.

This isn't much different than the media guys in the NBA who still refuse to recognize Jokic as what he is because he isn't Black or fit their culture.

The unfortunate thing is that even when you prove these people wrong they won't accept it. All you can do is go on and succeed for yourself and those who you actually care about.

Wazzu is not one of the 25 best teams in the country.

Bronco is an excellent football coach who has won 5/7 after starting 0-4. A dynamic playmaker at QB + good coaching = top half of the MWC.

It will take some time but if NM ever made a serious commitment to football. Not talking SEC but at least upper half MWC on a consistent basis over time that program could be solid.

Not much of a HS talent base but they are close enough to Texas and Oklahoma to recruit well there, we joke about it but Albequerque is a much better city than many G5 schools have. If they can show some return on investment there is money in NM, they could fund a competitive NIL program.

Support has been lacking because they have been so bad for so long but they have a population to draw from and there isn't much competition for the sports dollar. Put a decent product on the field and they could sell a lot of tickets.

Problem is that they have been so bad for so long that they would have to be willing to maintain some commitment long enough to change attitudes

It's a poor state, but there's concentrated wealth (like anywhere).

In-state talent isn't good, but you can recruit TX, OK, AZ and CO well enough to win a lot more than you lose in the new MWC.

Lots of pride from locals in what they do have. Lobos are only competing with Triple A baseball and USL soccer franchise for attention in the sports landscape. Show the locals a winner and they'll get behind it in a big way.

I think that UNM and UNLV could own the MWC.

A lot more money there than people think but you are right that the division of wealth is pronounced.

They support both of the pro franchises you mention, even though they are minor leagues.

Agree to disagree. Lobo football has simply never caught on in the city. I went to a game when Franchione was coaching when the WAC division title was on the line and they didn’t sell the stadium out (not close). I remember him looking at the stands and just being pissed

Basketball is 1000x an easier sell in NM.

Football will take some sustained success. Also, they need to have their marketing game together. But, remember, it's not like everyone else in the MWC doesn't struggle to get over 15k fans to a football game. They don't have to have Big 12 level fan interest, they just have to outcompete Wyoming, UTEP, Nevada, UNLV, Hawaii, Air Force and SJSU for recruits, community support and fan engagement.

You hit the key, they need a period of sustained competitiveness. The fans have had their hopes dashed too often to trust without solid results to back them.

NM is a basketball, cross country, and soccer state. It changes a bit the closer you get to Texas besides a few Albuquerque schools. Artesia is the damn powerhouse football wise, they win all the fvcking time for the most part. Aztec is serious about it some years but not all, when they are good more or less. I've been to games and it was probably 200 people tops. I did see them beat Roswell Goddard in I believe 2011 to win state or that blue trophy, whatever the fvck it is. It just seems like the further East you go in this state, the more they actually give a damn about it.
